Something I realized when I was building all of my Topps sets was that there were plenty of players who were in the majors for multiple years in the 50s and 60s who I had never heard of.

The contract issues between Topps and Bowman made it hard for both to fill out sets in their competitive years ( Umpires for Bowman in 55). The 52 Topps set has many players who were not in the majors in 1952 and several coaches.

Many do. I was, however, a Dee Fondy fan in the mid 50's. He had a nice little eight year career.

Fondy was the reason Chuck Connors gave up on baseball and became an actor when he beat out Connors for the Cubs first base job in Spring Training of 1952 and Connors got sent down to the Cubs minor league team in Los Angeles.
