Default Anyone playing Immaculate Grid daily?

https://www.immaculategrid.com/

Fun, free, daily game. Complete all 9 squares using only 9 guesses while trying to get a LOW percentage score. Easy to cheat? Sure, but it's a fun way to start the day! My son and I are hooked.

That's a hard game. I got confused because I thought that the player had to meet the criteria while on each team, rather than having just having met the criteria once, regardless of if on the selected team at the time.

What do the percentages listed on the player's name mean? Is that the percentage of time that someone chose that person for that square? Or does it mean something else, like the percentage of people that filled in the square correctly?

Thanks for sharing!

The percent shown the percent of people that had the same pick. If you know of more than one guess - use the one you think less people would guess. Remember, the lowest score wins!

Example - last week, I filled the Twins/A's box with Don Baylor. Long career but played his last 2 seasons with those teams. It scored a 0.3%!

Today (7/5) I'm stumped on a player that played for the Cubs and Mariners. It'll come to me later... Maybe...

edit (got it! - Mike Morgan. Seattle mid 80s, Cubs early 90s?) Final score for today is 188.

Obviously, I could've picked a lessor known player than Cal to lower my score. Tejada (duh). Lindor too. Carrasco!

I collected cards in the late 70s and 80s so I can find guess guys like Dave Kingman (2%)

I've tried it a few times, but I'm not very good at naming players who played on 2 different teams. I'm doing better with the awards or stat categories.

Thanks for introducing this to me. Lots of fun, and George Earnshaw got me 0.02%!

Apparently Immaculate Grid has been purchased by Sports/Baseball Reference.

Not sure if that will have any impact.

I'm useless unless the players involved were pre-1994 strike:

I'm better with the non-expansion (pre 1995) - especially 70s/80s. Today (7/12), I remembered seeing Bobby Bonilla's 1986 Topps card. Messed up by using Ichiro as the Seattle ROY but now can't think of a FL/SEA player....

What's really fun is learning the names of many journeyman players. Guys that played for 12 teams etc. Edwin Jackson etc.

Mark, That grid is great! Love seeing grids filled out with all pre 1980 players. (minus Cone!)

I used Joe Morgan last week for SF/OAK!

It looks like the biggest impact is you can now get a summary of results after you finish which tells you how many possible answers there are for each box and a link to see them in baseball-reference.com. I like having that available

Played for the first time a few minutes ago...not very good - scored 194

Immaculate Grid July 12 score of 194.jpg

Mark- Garvey was pre-1994 and had 200-hit seasons for the Dodgers.

So is it cheating to go to baseball reference and look through teams rosters to find (for example) someone who played for Atlanta and both Pittsburgh and Toronto?

You still have to know what teams the players played for, it' s just jogging the memory banks.

My son says it is, I say it is not.

Due to an incredible amount of Junk Wax that I ripped through during my teenage years, plus my love for baseball history/ootp, I'm often able to come up with some pretty obscure names for the grid. I love this stuff.

50 year old man here: if I see Devil Rays, Diamond Backs, Rockies, Marlins, I just come back and play the next day…

…I was happy with my Hooks Dauss pick for Tiger 20 game winner a week or so ago!

Well, when I just relied on my memory - first day I tried - score was 194.

A wise man uses all resources available to him...*

or as 'Dragline' said in 'Cool Hand Luke', 'In the law, nothing is taken for granted' (at least I think that was the quote...still relying on that same memory.)

* Today, I got six players with less than 1% each, but Winfield blew me up.

I have been doing this since posted, but my scores have been pretty mediocre. Pirates was right up my wheel house. Eight of Nine were less than 1% and Phil Niekro for Blue Jays HOFer was 1%. I even got to use Dave Parker for Reds/Blue Jays and Ralph Kiner for HOFer who hit .300 for . 6 & .7%. .300 for Reds I remembered Cesar Geronimo had a crazy year for the Big Red Machine and he was .1%. Not sure how they calculate the score, but it said 7.1, the percentages added up to 4.4% for the 9 entries.

44 today back to mediocre today.

I think that 44 is pretty good. Anyone other than Carlton fill the Cardinals 300 game winner?

Also, there are 10 Blue Jays HoF players? Man…

I thought of someone other than Carlton who was 12%. I don't want to give away who it is for anyone else still trying today, but there's at least one other choice.

I know of at least 2 guys, both prewar. I think the Mets is what kills you on that one. 3 guys are all pretty well known.

I just wished you could go back and do ones you missed, one grid a day isn't enough.
Would be really fun if users could create their own.

I guess I'm not nearly as good as this type of thing as I thought. I can't imagine how anyone could get a real low score without 'using all available resources.'

I have using my phone to see what the questions are, then trying from memory...which doesn't work too well.

Then I log onto BBR via my PC and look up Paul Abbott (PHI/SEA-.09%) and Paul Bako (FLA/MIL-.05%) etc. by checking rosters.

Three I tried on my phone attempt should have worked -though their percentages would have been way too high to help me, they weren't even 'accepted'.

Can anyone explain how C.C. Sabathia didn't work for NYY/MIL?
or
Mark Trumbo for SEA silver slugger?
or
Curtis Granderson for Marlins silver slugger?

Again. I am at a loss to understand how anyone can score really low/

I really want to enjoy this game...can anyone provide advice?

Thanks in advance...I'm always impressed with you guys.

C.C worked for me today. Not sure why it didn't for you

Trumbo won the SS in 2016 w/ Baltimore

Granderson's SS was in 2011 w/ NYY. Those need to be team specific.

I rarely get all 9 myself. Just have fun seeing how many I can do off the top of my head. Normally I give myself an hour then head over to BBR to look up possible answers.

So, awards have to be team specific, but not stats like 40 HRs?

oh and I'm very prone to fat-fingering answers...even if I think I'm being careful.

Well, I had a choice of quoting Britney Spears or Ian Fleming:

Instead of 'Opps! I did it again.', I'll go with 'Never Say Never (again)'

Time to 'fess up though. Are you solving these strictly by memory, or looking players up? If by memory, that's quite impressive.

The lowest I've been able to get is 28.

I recycle Gaylord Perry and Edwin Jackson a lot because people forget about them but they've played for so many teams.

MY memory??!! Heck no!

I'm using all available resources...though my 'major carpet ride' ended today...with a 109.

I can do well when they use the Pirates, otherwise I am pretty mediocre. Yesterday I was able to use Warren Spahn, Orlando Cepeda and Vada Pinson and they all scored low. My system is to try and use collecting 60s and 70s Topps baseball cards to fill out the brackets.

Well, on this one, only Jon Rauch came from memory...but feel free to use the results of my research:

I don't understand how 3,430 entries could score 2 or less. 200 Hits in a season by a Brewer had only four choices: Yount (40%), Molitor, Braun (31%) and the one I chose, Cecil Cooper (3%).

My score was a 7 - 200 hits by a Blue Jay was also rare...I chose Shannon Steward (3%) over Tony Fernandez or Vernon Wells...Olerud (38%) or Molitor were the only remaining options.

I did get three good ones from memory only: 100 RBI seasons for Hal Trosky, Del Ennis and Steve Garvey

Are you talking about the 0 to 9 score that is shown on the Summary page? I think that is how many correct answers people get and not what their score based on percentages is.

This was mine from memory. I got 7 of 9 below 1%. I was able to use my favorite player and two of the most famous baseball cards for the 100 RBIs.

Here is mine from today. I knew Aguilar since I got to talk to him in Arizona when he was with Miami last year and I've followed his career since, but Piazza and Conine were pretty easy for me.

Piazza played 5 games for the Marlins. FIVE! Strange that you too found that one easy. I can see him in a FLA uniform for some reason. But - only 5 games? Weird.

I'm super fascinated with players on odd teams, I also am a big Mets fan and remember that trade well.

Lastly, I just recently picked this up...
