Default "Sports Pix" Washington D.C. - Muhammad Ali and Boxing Premium Set - Possible Date?

"Sports Pix"

(P.O. Box 2553, Washington D.C. 20013)

Have had a couple of these "Sets" sitting in a drawer for years. Never really thought much about them. I thought so little of them I still have the price tags on them from when I dragged them to a show 10+ years ago, and I put 5 bucks on them.....and they didn't sell.

12 Boxers, including an Ali, who appears to be the most recent boxer in the set.

They're really not great looking. These are the paper thin 8.5 x 11 inch versions. Saw there's this version and a thicker 8x10 version. Some of the baseball have been graded by PSA based on some Ebay listings I found.

I did see some of the bigger names of the baseball versions have gone for a little bit of money, so my curiosity got piqued and figured I'd pull these out.

Dates given are all over the place. Anybody got any idea?

Baseball ones are listed anywhere from 1960 to just plain 1960's.

Never mind. Found them in Adam's book. Likely post-1963. Probably should have checked there to begin with.

Default Sports Pix book information

Hey D. Bergin, I was reading your post and I have some similar looking cards. I was wondering what book you were referring to where you found some info about them? If you could let me know I think it would be very helpful to date the cards I have.

Best Regards,
Griffin

Adam Warshaw's "America's Great Boxing Cards". I noticed them in his 2016-17 Edition. If he see's this he can chime in on whether or not he expanded on the set in other editions.

"Likely Post-1963" may be the most specific date you could get on these however.

Interesting. The Line-up for Football and Boxing stays the same between 1963 and 1966, but the baseball line-up slightly differs.

Also, they were still referring to Muhammad Ali as Cassius Clay in 1966, so they were probably pumping these out for a few additional years also.
