I know I've seen this scam pulled before, but I really believe that PSA is an enabler here, doling out "? Authentic" labels to give the misimpression that there is some statistical probability that this OBVIOUS FAKE is somehow real. Really bad work, PSA....

I agree.
Who the heck is working there? It's a t206 for heaven's sake.
It's not brain surgery. I'll never send anything to PSA ever again.

Yes, there is no question about this card's authenticity; and PSA should not say that the authenticity of this card is in question.

the seller must of been burned on the card and now is trying to re-coop his loss by leaving just enough temptation for the unsuspecting beginner...

my best pitch was the one that made it to the plate!

Which, as we all know, is a violation of eBay policy. Reported. Hope others will do the same.

PSA refuses to return cards with a "counterfeit" tag because they want to avoid lawsuits. saying "questionable authenticity" is stating an opinion. saying "counterfeit" is stating a fact. if the card were found to actually be authentic, however minute the chance, they could get sued. furthermore, i believe SGC also returns counterfeit cards with a slip as well.

anyone with any common sense would never bid on a card that was returned from PSA as "questionable auth." its the same thing as bidding on a suspect card found in grandpa's attic that is being sold as a reprint. obviously, its not slabbed for a reason. and if you fall for it, who is the moron?

I can't see the card in the link, but here's another one: http://cgi.ebay.com/1932-US-CARAMEL-BABE-RUTH-32_W0QQitemZ8711513399QQcategoryZ86847QQssPageName ZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

This seller is not getting burned and recouping his money, his first feedback is for another Ruth with questionable authenticity from PSA. One could probably found where he bought the reprints if one searched through his feedback carefully.

Will,

I realize what you're saying, but how about giving the card the tag, "Can't encapsulate" or "can't authenticate" or "authentic reprint." It's an authentic something right? It's not questionable whether or not the card is an authentic t206 is it? It's not questionable at all.

What's the difference between this and authenticating a real t206?
What if PSA makes a mistake and authenticates a reprint? Can they get sued? What's the difference between authenticating and deeming a card to be a reprint? Isn't authenticating stating the FACT that the card is real?

I was in California and took the 4 different Cobb poses I had to get graded at the show, on-site grading by PSA. I originally bought 3 of the cards from the same seller years ago thru an SCD ad. The other at a show. I left them and came back later and the PSA person in charge said they would grade the one card, but had to have their expert look at the other 3. I left the cards overnite and the next day they informed me they were probably cut from a sheet of cards and could not grade them. I thought all these cards were cut from a sheet? Anyway I sent them to SGC and they were graded with grades of 50 vg-ex bat off, 70 ex+ bat on and 70 ex+ green background. The card that PSA graded was the red background, graded vg-ex 4. I did call SGC before sending and they indicated they saw no problem grading cards cut from a sheet. This experience still confuses me.

Joe
