Default T217 Mono's

Who on the board collects them, and what are your thoughts on the set?

I only know a few collectors, maybe 3-5, who collect these. Out of respect for their privacy I won't mention them by name. The problem with the set is that it's so rare it would take a while to complete a set, if one wasn't obtained already put together AND there are not really any higher end stars or HOF'ers (to be). After Peckinpaugh the star status drops off quite a bit..though admittedly I am not an expert on the nuances of the players in the set. Add to those things the fact that commons, while there have been a few recently for a little less, generally go for $800-$1250, in gd-vg, each. With 25 in the set it could be pricey to complete without ending with a whole lot of bang, except the fact you were able to complete a really rare set. I think they are neat type cards and recently upgraded 1 of my 2....(this Stein was upgraded to another player that is a bit nicer, condition wise)

Default yet another incredibly rare set

that few people care about, let alone bother to try to complete the set. Unique photos and unique tobacco brand, for baseball subjects.

not sure of the connection but the t217 Mono set shares at least one image that appeares in the D311 set-just reversed

t217wares.jpg d311wares.jpg

the 217 is copied from an auction house and the 311 is mine

Both Pacific Coast issues with some image sharing between sets -just like some of the other tobacco and e sets from the same era.

Josh, same thickness of the T206, only black and white portrait like PCL photos.

Only 25 in the set, but can be tough to find.
I've been stuck at twenty for a few years.

You are young enough, and you have the patience.

Go for it, and let the set Happen!
