Default Desert Shield Chipper Jones Opinions Wanted

Hey Everyone,

I wanted to get some opinions as to whether this Chipper Jones DS that I recently picked up is legit or not.

Thanks!

Looks bad to me, who did you get it from?

I got it from a notable seller on eBay with great feedback. I should be able to return it for a refund

I think there are a lot of genuine cards that have gotten labeled fakes as the foil process didn't produce perfectly uniform results. I had an original owner collection and sent a bunch for grading. Most passed but several failed which obviously made no sense.

That being said I'm not a fan of yours. The filled in "R" in OPERATION, the poorly defined flag and the coconuts and palm fronds all look bad to me, and not in a way that would make me consider that it's a poorly done genuine card.

Thank you very much I appreciate your insight. The reason I felt the card was worth taking a shot on was that the face is pretty worn/scratched up. I figured a fake would look more pristine.

Are there any test, like the black light/glow test, that I can run to help determine real/fake? Or would pictures of the back help?

Thanks everyone

Ryan

unfortunately it all comes down to the foil as even the counterfeits are real Topps Jones cards (at least in my experience) The palm tree is just such an amorphous blob that's what bothers me the most. If you do a google search for topps desert shield logo you can find a couple for comparison that might help.
