Still haven't figured out why a pitcher would be covering 2nd on a steal attempt.

Joe D,

Are you sure that's Wagner? Looks like FDR to me.

Thanks very much, I must admit, I have been actively seeking a Plank for a bit of time now, so I am especially pleased to finally have that one.

I was very excited to pick up this J=K candy card a few days ago. I was even more surprised by its size once I got it in the mail; it dwarfs the average "T" and "E" card.

Darren

I have always thought that the 1951 Bowman Doby was one of the most attractive cards of all time. I would love to see the original artwork someday.

I know what you're going through on the Bottomley. It took me a couple of years of searching to find this one. Not in the best condition but...........

The 1951 Bowman Doby card uses a picture that appears (black-and-white) in the 1951 and possibly 1950 Indians team issued photo packs.

As for pitcher covering second base . . . if catcher overthrew on steal attempt and second sacker was chasing the ball in the outfield, wouldn't the pitcher cover?

Bob,

IF 2B was chasing an errant throw, SS should cover bag. P would back up throw from SS to 2B.

Depending on how far away the ball gets, P might back-up plate (or 3B) on a ball thrown from outfield to home (or 3B).

Either way...its a great looking card!

Best,

If you happened to have seen a Giants game this April, you've noticed that virtually all their players cover 2nd base on errant throws. Sigh.

Congrats on the Thorpe pitching!

Call me Ishmael. I'd likely overpaid, but have been waiting for this particular Red Belt view to show for many many years.

Very nice Larry there.

Steve, Dan... I don't have the Red Belt in hand yet. Is the "BOSTON" on Collins jersey legible? Doesn't appear so. Thanks for posting the XL scan.
