Default Cats in Baseball

Also posted on the card board. Hope I don't start a 400 post thread

Images of dogs seem more prevalent in baseball memorabilia (think D&M).

Here's an image of a cat on a 1940 Quebec ticket envelope, for Black Cat tobacco. There is also the written reference to Rock City, which had a number of baseball tobacco tins in the 1930s. For me, it's also neat that the writing refers to my birthday, just a few years earlier than my birth date

Any other images of cats in vintage baseball?

Max

Max:

This is such an "off the wall" thread! I think I can support it though... does this piece qualify?

I believe it may have been a Detroit Tigers related piece, even though the uniform colors are different. The Cat/Tiger is wearing #5, which might correspond to Hank Greenberg. It stands 15" tall, and is a heavy cast metal. My guess is that its from the 1930s, perhaps early '40s.

That is way too cool Mark. Given the size and material its made of do you think it was perhaphs intended as a garden statue or something? Looks like to me it is wearing a college letterman sweater. How do you display that thing?
