Ben, the Action Photo sets are always great pickups.

I recently got the 1963 Topps Plaque Mantle. It is still in what could be the original packaging, or at the very least an old plastic container based on the tape, so the picture isn't the best.

Nabbed one last "low end Mantle" for my project.
Got it in today, and everything is off to the frame shop later this week.

Now back to my usual sporadic pick-ups of God knows what.

Has anyone seen this before? Looks modern but has his 1955 stats on the back.

Thanks Larry. There’s one I found locally that looks beat up so thought might have found something rare for an instant.

Recent pickup for $15 including shipping. 1981 Perez-Steele. Didn't know much about these, but couldn't resist the old school /10,000.

Anyone remember his card from a few years ago. Does anyone know the story behind it? Apparently PSA and SGC would not grade it.

Here's the thread from a few years ago about the card when it first showed up:

https://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=246726

Are you now the proud owner of that card? If so, a huge congratulations! So far, I think that is a one of a kind.

Finally got a chance to take some pics of items I've picked up in the last month or two. Thanks to Fred for the Post Cereal retail display (Mick on one side, Roger on the other).

I'm pretty sure you were being facetious (at least I hope you were), so I won't answer the question.

Hello everyone. I'm brand new here and I wanted to show off the part of my small collection that I'm most proud of. The dream is to own a card from every year the Mick played, 52 will give me the toughest time in terms of how much it costs, but I have plenty of time left to reach my goal. Most of the cards are ungraded, I do have to send them into PSA in the near future, as they were apart of a collection I started with my father when I was young. Most of them would probably be low grades anyway, but I'm not too concerned about that. Not like I'm intending on selling them anyway. The most recent additions are the 54 Bowman and the 61 Topps, which I acquired over this past summer. Thanks so much for your time, the Album is below!

Welcome aboard, James. So glad you decided to come on board, matey. I wish you the very best to complete your dream collection of Mickey Mantle begun with your Dad. A connection as precious as that is would be very special.
You sure have some nice Mickeys, buddy. Don't be in a hurry, James, and even with collecting Mantle, it's still a good idea to be selective / picky and thus choose cards that have good eye appeal to YOU. Have fun and keep us posted.

Stay safe, and have a swell day. --- Brian Powell

Default Postcard from 1963

I am looking for any information on this early 1960s Mantle postcard. The only image I found so far was one picture with limited info on the Worthpoint site. In a different article, I read that Mickey was admitted to Lenox Hill Hospital in 1961 during the HR chase. Could this postcard be from 1961, but was still being mailed to fans in 1963? Was Mantle at Lenox Hill again after 1961? Any info is appreciated. Thanks

Great pick-ups Ben! I'd be more than happy to take the Yoo-Hoo name above, the Hospital postcard, and the Baseball magazine picture off your hands.

Posted something like this 4-5 years ago but got some free time and a little helper (my son), so I figured I’d get an updated picture of the collection minus a pin I forgot to take out of the box and a couple of posters that are in tubes somewhere... It’s always nice to flip through things every once in a while and discover some things I forgot I even bought.

I stand up and cheer, Chris! While I cannot see very clearly amidst the tiny picture, I KNOW you got the goods----that's one powerful array of Mick Charles, as he fancied calling himself not too long before he made the bigs, a neat take-off on Nick Charles, THE THIN MAN. I find it precious that you have a little helper, a natural way to bud his curiosity.

While my little guy never caught the baseball card bug, he most assuredly has the collecting bug. He has a spectacular collection of Sonic the Hedgehog, as well as 90s video games, housed in glass cases.

Though I do not have my collection of cards in a glass case, I chose the venue of a converted five-drawer heavy steel blueprint cabinet. My cards don't get hit with any light, except for the few minutes when I pull a drawer out to admire. You might recall these photos, Chris, from the summer of 2016, when I posted them on here. Nothing's changed, though I've added a pair of gorgeous 1962 Gehl's Gold Mine Ice Cream premiums of Roger Maris to enrich my Mantle - Maris collection. To load up the photos below, I again needed the help of my former little helper, who is now 32; my dear son Sam.

All the best to you and your family, Chris----always!

Thanks Brian! I swapped it out for a larger photo. I love your display and the mix of new and old cards. I also love the cabinet—I’d be in heaven if I had room for a flat file as I could store my cards and art altogether.

I can send photos of the Dad's and Rawlings. That should be a fair trade, right?

Thanks!! What a great way to start the week. Very tasty eye candy indeed!! Love the pictures! Now if I can just pull myself away to get some work done.

Not sure how this is only a 5. I mean yeah, the centering is off, but it’s in the 30/70 range at worst... I have gone over it with a fine toothed comb several times, and can’t really find anything else.

Default Anyone seen this Mantle item before?

OK Mantle guys. Help me out here! Anyone ever seen the below?

The info I got on them is these statues were bagged, stapled onto a baseball like tag with a string that were sent to a cap company soliciting them to use them as a promo item for their baseball caps.

The cap company decided not to use them.

The company who made the statues obviously then offered them to Tastee Freez for them to use to promote attaching the statue to their ice cream bowl. See ad below.

I picked up Mantle, Musial both shown as well as Campy, Berra, Reese, Lemon and Antonelli

Curious if anyone else has any of these?

Sorry, don't know how to rotate the Mantle Musial photos

Would be my guess too. Or it could be a fantasy piece/creation using the Dairy Queen statutes. It's the first I've seen of the bags.

The cups are cool. Is there any writing on them?

Holy buhgod

What grade is your '52T? I'm surprised the other cards don't spontaneously move a bit away to give it space
