Unfortunately, I was at work at my second job and missed it. But, I do appreciate everyones help in trying to let me know. If, by chance, carolinabrights is on the board, or you know them, I would appreciate either being able to get in contact with them, or hearing from them about the possibility of getting the card from them.

Thanks again to everyone who posted or e-mailed me. Tonight was my last night at my second job...hopefully, I can spend more time on the board now!

Ed

Sorry you missed it, Ed.

Maybe you could contact the winner and try to buy it. Shame it is an expensive Hindu.

And tiny url's are wonderful!!!

It is someone from the board, and I have been lucky enough to trade a Hindu backed card for one with Howe's stamp in the past. He now has two that I would like to get my hands on, but have to find trade bait first. I've e-mailed him to let him know my interest in making a trade, or just out-right buying.

Again, thanks to everyone for the posts and e-mails when they see one of these come up.

Ed

Maybe next time a private email to Ed would be better.

unfortunately, just wasn't at home, or with computer access in time to see them.

Its all part of the game ... there are only a certain number of these cards, and they will change hands ... I just hope in the end, my hands are full.

Hi guys,
I purchased the card...And Ed knows that as soon as I upgrade the two Hindu's with McCormick backs, that I will be offering them to him for trade or sale.
I think Ed has a neat collection going and I certainly want to help him continue his quest.

Be we Brian

PS When I bought the card I didn't even notice the stamp...

Brian,

So you bought it for the Hindu back..

That is what caught my eye, the stamp appears to be fairly light anyway.  NEAT Card.

Hi Danny,
Don't sweat it... I bought several cards from Joe yesterday and saw the Hindu when it was listed, not on the board.

Be well Brian

PS As I stated above... Ed will almost certainly end up with the card in his collection.

I think we're all here on the board for the same reason...we love baseball cards. Old ones. And I really admire the comradery and friendships I've been able to build here. I think everyone here wants to help everyone else out in their quests or endeavors. Whether through e-mails, postings on the board, phone calls, etc., we all find out about stuff we're after. Just sometimes we're/I'm too slow to react.

I've dealt with Brian in the past. I know when he finds an upgrade, or I can find him a replacement, he'll see to it that the card (or cards, actually) end up in my hands. Art has been holding one for quite some time while I look for a replacement. Jeff has one that needs a replacement. There is also a board member who discovered he had a group of 10 of them from a larger collection he purchased several years ago. As time allows, I hope to find replacements for all of them. I got a card from Danny that he saw at a show, and bought knowing I would want it. Turner let me know of a dealer at a show he was at who had one, and even got me the guys name and e-mail so I could contact him. Brain, Art and Martin let me know about the last one with a BIN on eBay several months ago...all within 15 minutes of each other! And Trae, who has said several times he hoped he could find me one, was the first to e-mail me about this one that I missed.

It doesn't matter whether it's e-mails, postings, calls, whatever; I appreciate the help from everyone. I really don't think anyone meant any offense about how anyone tried to contact me, or that I missed out on it. And I don't think anyone should take offense. I screwed up. I didn't check the board or my e-mails at the right time. It's on me.

But I now know where the card is, and I know I have a shot at getting it. Thanks to a lot of people.

Which brings me to another point...Yes, there is an auction coming up. Yes, I know about it. No, I won't be bidding right away, as my family and I will be on a cross country car trip to a family reunion. But I'll be back before the auction ends, and yes, I hope to win it. I wouldn't have known about this lot without the help of people telling me. Honestly, I've not been big into auctions for over 15 years, and probably never would have thought to check out an auction for a lot like this. But, again, thanks to people willing to help out others on the board, I know it's there, and I hope to win. It may seem strange to "out" an auction, even before it begins, but I think most people here know I would be after it anyway as soon as they saw it.

It's really all about the friendships and help that make the board special. Finding stuff, figuring stuff out, founding out what it really is, etc. I think that's why we're here, and I hope we can all enjoy the experience of the Network 54 board like I've come to enjoy it.

Thanks for letting me ramble. It's late now, and I'll be gone for about nine days. Let's just all enjoy our love of old cardboard. Thanks.

Hi Ed,
Have fun on your cross country reunion...If your family is anything like mine, it will turn into a Chevy Chase "vacation"....smiley.
Good luck on the auction when you return and don't tie the dog to the back of the car....
Be well Brian

PS I think Ed's post expresses the "Mission of the board" perfectly and should be required reading for any new members....
