Default 1917-20 M101-6 Felix Mendelsohn cards - some bigger with borders?

I recently picked up what I think is a 1917-20 M101-6 Felix Mendelsohn card of Jim Bagby. When I received the card I compared it to another FM card I have of Guy Morton and I immediately noticed the differences. The Bagby card is bigger than my Guy Morton, about 4-3/4" x 6-3/4" and it also has borders. I flipped through my Standard Catalog and checked out Old Cardboard and both sources say the set is borderless, like my Guy Morton. Although these references differ slightly on card size, neither shows anything as big as my Jim Bagby.

Are some FM cards bigger, and with borders? Is this something different?

Yes Jason, m101-6 can have borders, although those are seldom seen. They are also slightly larger in size, too, although some slight size deviation can be found among those without borders as well. Here's a thread from several years ago on the subject:

Nice card, BTW.

Default Thank you!

Thanks so much for the quick reply and answer! I completely missed your referenced thread when I searched the topic. Thank you!

Now to add with and without borders to my various want lists. As far as types go I am certainly happy to have one of each.

I never knew some had borders.. Reminds me of the 1921/23 Exhibits.
