Who are the six major leaguers who are members of the 300-300 club, that is, who have hit at least 300 home runs and stolen at least 300 bases during their careers. Three are still active, and three are retired. No fair looking it up.

I won't cheat, so this isn't complete:

Active:
Bonds
X A-Rod
?

Retired:
Mays
X Jose Canseco
?

EDITED TO SAY: Guessed wrong on two, I'll let someone else have a chance.

I don't think ARod has that many stolen bases. How about Bobby Bonds?

Bonds x 2
Mays
Dawson
Finley
Sanders

Finley and Sanders joined the club at almost the same time last year and Barry Bonds is the only member of the 400/400 club and obviously 500/500 too.This was actually the trivia question on the Giants telecast the other day and someone at my house was amazed how fast i rattled off all 6 answers,almost before the guy got the final word of the question out

* Barry Bonds is correct (738 HR, 510 SB through 4/18/07)
* Willie Mays is correct (660 HR, 338 SB)
* Bobby Bonds is correct (332 HR, 461 SB)

Three more to go.

John got the other three:

* Andre Dawson (438 HR, 314 SB)
* Steve Finley (304 HR, 320 SB through 4/18/07)
* Reggie Sanders (304 HR, 304 SB through 4/18/07)

I wouldn't have guessed Finley.

Henderson missed out by about 8 hr's i believe. Vince Coleman tho didnt even make the 30/300 club,he finished with 28 career homers. The group could get watered down soon,theres alot of current players on pace for it.It was a big deal when Dawson did it i remember and when Bonds joined his father but when Sanders and Finley joined in the same week last year it was news for a day

I remember Ron Gant hitting his 300th homer and scoring his 1000th career run on the homer and i thought it would be a big deal.I mean how often does a guy reach 2 career milestones in the same AB, and there was never a mention of it

Ok, in a similar vein, who are the 4 major leaguers who are members of the 40-40 club in a single season?

Another similar question from a TV broadcast: Which players have hit 50 HRs in one season and hit 50 double in one season?

I think Albert Belle is still the only player to have done the 50-50 thing and I think he did it in the strike shortened '95 season.

Belle was the only player to do it in one season. Three others have season highs of at least 50 HRs and doubles.

If you're talking about different seasons I would probably guess Mickey Mantle, Brady Anderson and George Foster.

Jeff, I don't understand what you're asking. Luis Gonzalez and Brady Anderson cause me to raise an eyebrow. One season of a bunch of home runs?????

No, I meant out of the names Foster, Mantle and Brady Anderson - which of the three played in the steroids era? Brady Anderson hit 50 HRs one year and never hit more than 24 in any other season in his career. As for Luis Gonzalez, in a very long career, hit 57 one year and never more than 31 in any other single year.

We were talking about some trivia today. The Mets never had a no-hitter in their 45 year history, but we were naming all the pitchers who had one or more after they left the Mets. Starting with Nolan Ryan's seven, you have one each by Tom Seaver, Dwight Gooden, David Cone, and several others. Can anyone add to this list?

I just thought of Al Leiter.

Mike Scott for sure and maybe Hideo Nomo.

Al Leiter threw his no-hitter for the Marlins before he joined the Mets.

Nomo's was with the Dodgers BEFORE he came to the Mets, right? I think it was at the Rockies which is even more incredible.

Nomo threw two no-hitters and I think one came after he pitched briefly for the Mets. I didn't remember that his first was in Colorado though. That's a real testament to how good he was at one time.

Yes, first no hitter was in 96 at Coors Field; second was in 01 with Boston. He pitched for the Mets briefly in 98.

In the history of the game there has only been one three game series sweep where the victory for each winning pitcher(s) was their first major league win (in all three cases). Two teams involved and when was it?

I think this happened fairly recently and I'll guess one of the teams was the Florida Marlins.

Are one team and the ESPN crawl I saw (without the details) said the other example was from 1941 (and I think the Yankees were involved there as well)

I think the 1941 example was not for a full series. The 2007 Yankees was the full three game series. Trivia to the fullest details

Rich

Edited for clarity

That's right the Yankees over the Indians in the last three days. From what I heard on the radio this morning it was the first time it's been accomplished.
