Default 1950 Royal Dessert Brissie "C" on Cap

Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts about this card.

As Royal Dessert card collectors know, these cards were issued over a period of several years and as a result, reflected changes that occurred during that time frame.

On Lou Brissie's initial card, he is shown with an "A" on his cap since he was a member of the Philadelphia Athletics. Brissie joined the Indians early in 1951 and the Royal card was changed to reflect this by changing the "A" on his cap to a "C".

I've been trying to find this card for 25+ years and finally saw one listed on eBay a few months back. I dropped out of the bidding at $500 and it ended up selling for over $700.

His "A" cap card is very plentiful. Any idea why the "C" cap version is so scarce?

John
