Fun topic:

What baseball name would you hate to have had either in it's time or now. I have been going through some boxes of cards and without fail, Dick Sisler cracks me up every time! I can't believe his parents liked him at all!!!

Charlie Fuchs (although Charles Anthony Zuch's baseball name cleary trumps that in my mind).

I'm glad the guy was never a baseball player, but the football player Fair Hooker. He played for the Cleveland Browns.

I just can't imagine the PA announcer saying with a straight face, now batting....Fair Hooker.

The best baseball name of all-time is unquestionably Johnny "Ugly" Dickshot.

So many to choose from over the years but I gotta admit the top-tier horrible names are Rusty Kuntz, Johnny Dickshot, with Dick Trickle getting Honorable Mention.

Pete LaCock's Dad is actually Gary Marshall... the original host of Hollywood Squares. I remember he used to brag about his son on the air.

when I used to practice in N.W. Indiana, I had 2 clients with great names. One was Candy Hymen who had a cocker spaniel named " Buster". Also a lady named Arlita Dickover. Now those would be names that are hard to live with. Also had a client named Louis Head married to Polly and they had a son named Richard. Would not have wanted to be the son. These are actual names which I did not make up.

Okay, I was just reading this thread and was not going to post but then I saw Ken's post and I have to say that if "Arlita" was actually "Anita" for the first name, things would have have been a little worse for her.

And the great manager of the KC Royals and Yankee player comes to mind: Dick Howser

Somebody mentioned former NFL player Fare Hooker. During the first season of Monday Night Football, with Cosell, Gifford and Dandy Don Meredith, the latter followed up Cosell's first mention of Fare Hooker by saying: "That's quite a name, Howard. I've never met one yet."

Dick Johnson is a little redundant. Jack Asseltine would have been tough to live with as well.

True .........

Went to college with a guy named Dick Kuntz (great guy, guess had to be).

Worked with a guy named Peter Hurtz ..............

Baseball: 2000 Memphis Redbird star SS, and played a few games with Cards: "Stubby" Clapp (real name Richard, i.e. "Dick" Clapp).

...... and, believe it not, it's not easy with a last name Gross. Rembember (long ago) in Kendergarten, some kid coughed milk out his nose, and someone said: "UUUGGGG Gross !!!!!!!!!!" All the kids looked at me and laughed. Me, a five year old, said to myself: "Man, that's gonna' get old real quick."

There was a linebacker for eastern Illinois recently (maybe still on the team) named Lucius Pusey who was so tired of the accidental (and intentional, I'm sure) mispronunciations that he changed his last name.

I was sending info to people who had given me their business cards at a book show a few years ago and came across one for "Richard Rash" and another for "Richard Hertz". I sent out the info but I still think someone was messin' w/me.

I guess it would be OK to have the surname of Niebergall, provided everybody called you by your birth name. Otherwise, no thanks.

A little more Pete LaCock trivia. His dad is indeed Peter Marshall, but his aunt (his father's sister) was Joanna Dru, a 1940's and 50's actress ("Red River", "She Wore a Yellow Ribbon") who was more than a little hot.
