Default October 2020 Pickup Thread

I was looking through my modern cards recently. Unbelievably, I had never bothered to pick up a Frank Thomas Leaf rookie before. Fortunately, I was able to pick up this copy for $30 (all-in, after taxes and shipping) from eBay. So, I have filled a glaring hole in my modern collection.

I have been picking up a few rookie cards of Tatis Lewis and Lux. I love to Topps refractors. Tough series coming up for the Dodgers and Padres! Such a great class of young players in today’s game. Fun to watch them play.

Go Dodges!

Thumbs up

Great stuff. That Dodgers/Padres might be the best matchup of the entire playoffs, especially if SD gets their starting pitching back.

Just purchased this Leaf Nate Pearson RC 1 of 7 the other night from COMC. (Thanks again, John, (Swarmee) for the help/walkthrough )
Due to covid and slow shipping, I'm not suppose to receive this card until Dec 11th, however.

I lost out on another, non 1 of anything, so I was real happy to find this one.

I was kicking around the idea of grabbing one myself recently but Eric72's post made me commit as I just grabbed this one off a CDN seller for very similar money.

Not in hand yet, obviously, nor a 9, but I'm glad to also check this one off the list.

I'm going to look through my 89 Fleers tonight and pull all the Boggs. If I find any no dots they are headed your way.

Great card!. I finally picked up a graded example after years of having it on the back burner.

I was thinking to myself - I have opened a TON of 89 Fleer and I probably have a few more of these. I would just need to go through them ALL. Plus, I would have to determine which ones would have this, as I have it figured out where the Boggs no dot is in terms of dates/runs.

I searched my 89 Fleer and found 6 Boggs, but they all have that nasty dot on them. I pulled all of the errors and variants cards while I was doing this and had quite a few of both the Heath/Brookens cards, but none of the other variant cards. This was a 4 box lot I opened a year or so back that had the "F" Face Ripkens. I was able to pull 4 of those out of the 4 boxes which I thought was low considering I found 6 each of Griffey, Biggio, Randy Johnson and Smoltz.

Received this awesome Roger Clemens TCMA Minor League card in the mail today. It was a very easy/smooth trade with a fellow member.

I also got a box of the nice holders it is in from Rick yesterday.

I got one as well! I was completely shocked they even had card sets, seeing as how they can't keep packs on their shelves. So I bought it last night, opened it up and thought - hey, I just read about this on the October Pick-up thread!

Mail day yesterday! I was kicking myself for not buying the auto when it came out on Topps Now for $79.99. A blue parallel came out on ebay, and I got it for half the Topps Now price! Very happy.

Picked up a raw 1983 Topps Tony Gwynn rookie card that came with some light surface damage so I was a little disappointed since I was planning on sending it out to be graded, and I also picked up a 9.5 SGC 1987 Topps Traded Greg Maddux Rookie card. I thought the Maddux was a really nice SGC 9.5 that would have a chance to crossover to a PSA 10.

I tried posting pictures from imgur but it isn't working.

Nice! I have 23 random packs of 1991 Topps on the way. Hoping to hit some of these errors in them. Or have them all be Desert Shield packs. LOL
