If I were to grade that card, I'd call it VG+ or VG/EX. I do tend to grade a bit on the conservative side though.

That said, beautiful Mantle. It's a great card I'd love to own.

Default centering is key for me

That is a great looking card. I would call it a 4.75 and thus SGC labeled it correctly, imo. I love cards that have good centering and that one is almost perfect. Very nice!!

Those cards were very sensitive due to the bordering. Been a long time since I have seen one this centered! Corners do no really effect the overall appearence on this piece, with that being said...BEAUTIFUL CARD!!

I agree with leon. The card is closer to a 5 than a 4. Could see psa giving it a 4.5 vg-ex+ on the wrong day.

I'd probably go with a PSA 4.5 VG-EX+ due to the centering, but since SGC doesn't have a 4.5 grade I would think a SGC 50 would have been more accurate although it would still be a high end VG-EX IMO.

Just a bit too much wear for a 5, imo. I call it VG/EX.

Here's my '53 Topps Mantle. Also a 5. A lot of similarities but I think yours is nicer.
