What are some smaller pre-war sets
I have a handful of issues that I'm in the process of collecting with the goal of hopefully collecting a complete set those being the 1934 Goudey and T205. There are some quite large pre-war sets as we are all quite aware, why else do we call the T206 The Monster.
I have started working on a D322 Tip Top Bread set and a E90-2 set. What are some small pre-war sets that you like or have enjoyed collecting/completing. Maybe a limit of say 50 cards could be considered small. Last edited by markf31; 06-29-2012 at 09:32 AM. |

N28's and T200's
N28's and T200's seem to fit my bill of smaller sets. Im only doing the BB players for the n28's limiting the set to 10 cards of which I have 4. I honestly only have 1 t200, but have been "collecting" the set for a year or so and always seem to find my money going elsewhere. I have been the underbidder several times on several t200's. Totally opposite feel to my CJ set which I consider huge at 177 cards, and eventually 180 cards. I plan on framing and displaying both N28 and t200 sets whenever completed.

1933 Goudey Sport Kings are only 48 cards. They are very popular due to the bright colors and various subject matter.

I've been doing t205 for almost 10 years, so like you I wanted something else to pass the time between my picky pickups.
I tried e90-1s but got sidetracked with e102 during REA a couple years ago. If you want some e90-1s PM me. I've got quite a nice low grade start....

ive been collecting d304s for some time now. if you're not concerned about front/back combos, the cobb is likely the toughest card to get - the others are attainable. it gets a bit more expensive when you get into collecting backs. it's a fairly popular set and thus low grade cards can cost you...but, if you take your time and are not super grade sensitive, than you should have a fun time putting the set together.

Two of my favorite small sets are - E93 with 30 cards nice colors and mostly HOFers and 1922 Eastern Exhibit 20 cards again mainly HOFers and cool shots not seen on many other cards.

N167 should be small and easy. JK
The ten ball players of the n28 set would be easy and fun as Steven mentioned. The hof in this set are very reasonably priced. With patience, you could get each of them in nice condition around the 500-900 each range. The 1933 Delong is another great candidate. Beautiful cards and not much bidding competition IMO. Just 24 cards |

33 Delong
The 33 Delong set is only 24 cards. Relatively easy to find in lower grades. There are a bunch of hall of famers. A very managable set.

I agree with Scott on the E93's. Great looking cards, high percent of hall of famers, not terribly difficult to find and a set of 30 can be put together relatively cheap.

Some to consider:
1932 US Caramel, 1933 DeLong, 1933 Butter Cream, 1933 Uncle Jack. |

You can collect just the 20 Type 1 Southern Leaguer's... That's a fun challenge. Also... I think the T211 Red Sun's at 75 cards is a nice little set to collect with some solid big league players in it as well as some fantastic Southern Leaguer's. Prices have come way down on this set and it is the perfect time to enter the market place and start acquiring.

E95 has 25 cards and the E96 has 30. They have some unique poses and are fairly affordable.
