Default 1965 Topps by Series

Was the 1965 set divided into series in the same way as the 1966 set? In other words, 1-109, 110-196, 197-283, 284-370, 371-446, 447-522 and 523-598?

The sources I find online go by the numbers listed on the checklists which I know can't be right, if for no other reason than it leaves the last series with 92 cards.

Thanks!

The Sixties Checklists weren't actually correct until 1967, the years before were screwed up every time by the first Checklist having 1-88 rather than the correct 1-109.

So you're saying the series were numbered the same in 1965 as in 1966?

1965 and 1966 are identical, 1964 is only different from 65 and 66 in that the 7th Series has 66 cards rather 77 (kevvyg and I just reconstructed the 1964 7th Series sheet), 1967 is only different from 65 and 66 in that the 5th Series has 88 cards rather than 77.

Intentionally done to kind of preview the next series.

I believe the 1962 set is the same as 1965 and 1966, 110-88-88-88-77-77-77, the 1963 set is nearly the same, 110-88-88-88-77-66-66, the 1968 set is 598 like 1965 and 1966 but I think it has a little different set up, 1969 is completely different than the other 60’s sets with multiple 110 card Series and even a bizarre 99 card Series. ETA, I could be wrong on this but I believe the 1968 set goes 110-88-88-88-88-77-66 and the 1969 set goes 110-110-110-99-88-77-77.

Dave is correct. There was always 10 or so cards from the next series released in the current series. It always included the next series checklist to give you a "preview" of who was being released next.

Those card numbers are correct for the 1965 issue. Remember though, that checklists were reprinted in those years. So series 1 has both check 1 and check 2 in it, series 2 has both check 2 & 3, etc.
