Default 1955 Topps Complete Set PSA 6 or better

About 7 years ago, I built the 1955 Topps baseball set in PSA 6 or better. I am curious what people feel the current value may be? I’ll list some of the major cards and grades. All help with this value is greatly appreciated.

Ted Williams PSA 6
Al Kaline PSA 6
Ernie Banks PSA 7
Warren Spahn PSA 7
Henry Aaron PSA 6
Jackie Robinson PSA 6
Sandy Koufax PSA 6
Harmon Killebrew PSA 7
Roberto Clemente PSA 6.5
Willie Mays PSA 6
Yogi Berra PSA 6
Duke Snider PSA 6

Just as a point of reference a PSA 5-6 1955 set sold for $11,100 on Heritage last July: https://sports.ha.com/itm/baseball/1...umbnail-071515

I'm certainly no expert, but I'd think you'd at least get that and likely quite a bit more for your higher grade set.

A PSA set comparable to yours sold for $10,200... but that was in December 2019. Gotta figure it'd be more than that in this environment. https://sports.ha.com/itm/baseball/1...umbnail-071515

...and a PSA 8 set went for $69,000 in February 2020: https://sports.ha.com/itm/baseball/1...umbnail-071515

I built the same set 10 years ago, still the only set I've ever completed. My set is roughly 75% PSA 7, 25% PSA 6, and our star cards are mostly the same grades. I spent time inputting my set to calculate its value a couple of months ago using VCP avg and came up with $33k. Even with many more 6's than 7's for your commons, your set's value is still in the vicinity of $30k. The five most expensive cards are over half of the total value.

As of today, VCP for a complete PSA 6 set is $27,251, a complete PSA 7 set is $52,662, and a complete PSA 8 set is $179,130. Don't axe me about a complete PSA 3.5(MK) set, since I'm most likely too lazy to find out.

I appreciate the heads up on everything. I built this set for my son when he was 4. Now he is 12. The market seems to be very high, so I am thinking about moving it. Does anyone think that this set will move up more in the next 5 years or so? This is the only vintage set I have. I am 36 years old and wanted something fun to do with my son. All advice is greatly appreciated.

The market will fluctuate but over 10-20 years I would expect the value to only increase.

If you need the $ then yeah I would sell, but you will most certainly regret it.

I would hold onto it and maybe this can be something you pass on and keep in your family, the monetary value doesn’t eclipse working on it with your son…..maybe it’s part of college funding down the Road.

In my opinion one of the greatest sets ever made.

Good luck!!

Bob's numbers sound about right. Around 40-45 k? Depending on the centering of the Clemente too.

And I agree with Gusto. It sounds like a spot where I'd only sell it if you need the money now. I wouldn't try and time the market with something like that

Keep it. Just forget you have it. Leave yourself a note to look at it again in 10 years…….

Default I Agree with Mr. Elberson

Keep it and watch its price rise over the years. Go through it with your son and discuss how you obtained certain cards. Enjoy it like a fine wine. Peace.
