Default Have to out this.

So, earlier in April I sold the attached card to a gentleman in Maine. He obviously turned around quickly to have it graded at Beckett after......well....look at the eBay listing or the third and fourth attachments after the first two.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/26679012612...3Avlp_homepage

In addition to that I have received an offer through eBay to purchase the card from the same gentleman in the same town for $4200.00 instead of $4500.00. Incredible.

He trimmed it with a rusty pair of scissors and had it put in an "Altered" holder.

Maybe he thought it looked more aesthetically pleasing that way.

LOL, also did he soak it and just leave it laying out on the counter to dry?

That might be the worst alteration I've ever seen. At least this person's work is highly unlikely to fool anyone.

I don't necessarily have a problem with someone taking an altered card (though not sure the original version exactly fits that criteria) and making it a more appealing altered card, but I really do not understand how someone could do such a terrible job trimming a card in this day and age.

The original corners and edges, except the one, were quite appealing anyway, would have looked totally great slabbed like that...if it had to be slabbed. Oh well, some people.

Default yikes

Maybe he thought it was a strip card? I can just imagine him hacking away , looking at the card and saying.... hmm maybe just a wee bit more?? 30 minutes later OH CRAP!!!!! This is where he wished he could jump into his DeLorean and go back in time....... seriously, that is about the best card Ive ever seen totally butchered and its a damn shame.

At least it didn't get a numeric grade from Beckett.

I was wondering why that second-to-last option only got an 82% opprobrium rate: https://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=347578

Interesting to look at the posters on that thread, too.

He probably wanted to trim that gash out of the right side...and if I'm being honest, that looked horrible, regardless of what type of "originalist" you are.

....and then he realized the card looked off-center, sparking some sort of OCD reaction in his brain from which he couldn't help himself.

Don't think it was anything nefarious. Just a little misguided maybe.

Geez...at least you have a scan of what the card originally looked like.

Buyers from the state of Maine should legally be restricted from purchasing this example.

Other than being guilty of maybe bad taste and bad scissor skills I’m not sure why this guy should take flack for this.
