Default does everyone snipe on ebay?

Is this the only way to get choice cards at reasonable prices?

This forum is for posting cards for sale, or cards you are looking to purchase. A question like this belongs in the main forum...
But to answer your question many use snipe services, including me, out of convienence. I dont have to be at home sitting at my computer when an auction ends to place a last second bid. It also guarantees that I will place a last second bid.I bet most have had their computer freeze up at some point when trying to place a last second bid manually. Sniping is by no means neccesary however to "score" choice cards. Most of the time I have no problem placing a snipe the old fashioned way if i choose too. sniper services are most useful to me in the sense that I can be bidding on items I want when im at work or away from home.

...if you bid on an ebay auction any time prior to 20 seconds before the auction ends, you are only (a) hurting yourself by giving bidders an opportunity to bid against you; and (b) driving up the price for the seller.

Not only do many people use sniping services, but it is the best way to keep the costs of auctions down -- which is, of course, most important when you win.

Try GavelSnipe.com. It's free. It works. Why would you place a bid any other way?

perpetuating this "wrong area post" sorry but...

Sniping is just the way it seems to work right now. I have had cards for sale that were under 100 dollars in the last 5 minutes and as the seller get antsy that it's so low, and some sniping happens and it's over 500 dollars and I'm happy.

The toughest part for sniping is those of us that DON'T have a lot of disposable income don't get to win a lot of cards as there are people (you KNOW who you are) that will put HUGE snipes in to assure their winning of cards - which drives the prices up...

I guess it's just that you sell something on ebay, you advertise for 7 days and the "live" part of the auction takes place in the last hour of your listing...

sad but true...

sniping is here to stay, and it WAS easier to win more when less people used proxy bidding and everyone started sniping...
