Default New Member Introduction

Hi everyone! This is my first post and I just wanted to say hello. I am a huge baseball fan and collected cards as a kid in the late 80’s through mid-90’s. I have continued to get the Topps base set every year so I have a run from 1980-2020. Over the years I’d pick up vintage stuff from time to time and have a smaller collection of random Topps from 1953-1979. Spending so much time at home I’ve been looking through the older stuff and I’ve enjoyed it so much I can’t figure out why I stopped collecting! Over the past 4 months I took up building the 1969 set in VGEX-EX and I’m at 589/664, looking to finish that by the spring. The bug is back, too bad so many others like me are also coming back (or just starting) driving prices up. Anyway, the long-long-long term project is to collect base sets from 1953-1979, starting with the 70’s this year.

I’ve enjoyed reading the forum and learning from all of you!

Jeremy, welcome to the board. That's a great project idea. Some of those Topps sets will be a little pricey, but with the right amount of time and dedication, I'm sure you'll be able to accomplish your goal.

Thanks James. Dedication, patience and money! Many are pricey indeed, I’m looking at this as a 15+ year journey...... unless the lottery numbers come in.

Thanks for the welcome everyone. IRV, I’ll have to get some tips from you on where you buy some of the older stuff. I’ve had good luck with Kronozio, SportLots and the occasional eBay purchase. But as I start to procure some of the pricier items the dreaded customs/HST taxes will start to play a roll I’m sure. The B/S/T section here may become my second home!

Welcome Jeremy! So funny, I felt like I was reading my first post here 9 years ago! There are so many of us folks with the exact same experience, and I mean exact. I even started on the 69s when I came back just like you did...crazy.

Welcome!
