Default October pickups.

Ah, senility. Put these in September pickups and then realized it's October. Also, sorry for the poor resolution on the M101s. My fault. Batting a 1.000 today:

I picked these puppies up in early summer (thanks Jim) but posting them now. I think the Cobb is my favorite pose, hopefully one day I'll get my hands on a graded one!

Purchased last month but now scanned. Card is mislabeled--should be 1921.

I'm so impressed with all the stuff that has been posted so far this month. Personally, I'm not in a position to join in...more inclined to sell off...but I appreciate those who can...and shop well...which you all seem to do.

Congratulations to all!

It popped up yesterday on eBay when I was on lunch. The price was too good to turn down. It's been a lot harder of a HOFer to track down due to all the hoarding....eh...."collecting"

Love it! Did you intend to snag the ticket, or did you see Cheney and actively search out a Bush to see if there was a complement?

Default Teddy

..a premium from the Jack Armstrong Radio Show , brought to you by General Mills Cereal ; it's a glossy black and white photo , blank back , 5 x 7 ; looks much better in hand because the scanner setting is ''color''.....the sign on the wall reads :
"Players Must Not Bat
The Ball Toward The
Grandstand During Prac-
Tice"
...............................I believe the bottom says "The New York Baseball Club" but it's very small and I can't be sure of it.....I've never seen this particular shot of Teddy used for any other purpose , and I've seen hundreds. There is some evidence pointing to 1941 as year of issue and then Pearl Harbor happened and evidently the premium offer stopped abruptly...Jack Armstrong , The All American Boy , went to war.

Default Jack Armstrong Radio Premium Rapid Robert

...That's what he looked like in 1941 ; He was a prolific signer ; I do not recall ever seeing this particular pose and angle so it may be the sole property of General Mills and didn't get into circulation. They were funny that way.

That's one of my favorite Goudey cards. Took a long time to find the combination of good color, registration, centered, and decent price.

That group certainly has the eye appeal factor. I like the Hubbell and Ott with the slightly toned looking paper.

I had to trade that for sharp corners, centering & price, which I will do all day long. And that red color on the Hubbell is mesmerizing in real life.

Default Johnny Mize 1941 Jack Armstrong Radio Show Premium

..The back has a small pencil notation : " St. Louis"
"Giants-1942 "

so this is his last year in a Cardinals uniform.......how and when he left the Cardinals and got to the Giants is a helluva story on its own.......but just imagine The Big Cat and a rookie Stan Musial on the same team for a couple years

..Patty Berg is included in the premiums set of eight athletes because she was just plain awesome , at many things , but a champion at golf , and if ever you are stuck inside due to bad weather her wickipedia page and the various obituaries on the internet make marvelous reading. There's a street named after her in Fort Myers , Florida , which is a pretty neat accolade all by itself.

I had to sell some nice, rather high end, modern cards to make these 2 happen but, well, can you blame me? Also - the beginnings of a portrait project that I plan to sort in a nice color gradient.
