Default Pre 1974 series

Hi

My first year collecting was 1974. So in the previous years when the cards were released in a different series, was the buyer aware?

For example, if a pack was a series 5,

Was the pack marked as such?
Was the pack full of series 5 only or mixed in with previous released cards?

Thanks

Default 1973

Jay--there are a couple of prior threads in here on series versus one time release of the 1973 set. There is an unopened pack guide by Mark Murphy that helps distinguish older packs by series. It can sometimes be found on eBay

So the packs were marked? So all the cards were series 5?

Thanks

The packs weren't always marked. Some had inserts that came with a certain series that were advertised on the pack.

As far as I know nearly all the cards would be from the same series. The exception would be the checklist, there was usually one from the next series as well as the current series -sort of an advertisement for the upcoming series.

Thanks. I was looking around internet and saw where the box might say series 2, but the packs looked the same. Must have been confusing.
