Default Darbys Chocolates

I just learned about Darbys Chocolates panels. I saw one in a book with Tris Speaker. Does anyone have any they would like to share a picture of?

Every time I see a type of card I've never seen before, I immediately think "I never knew I needed one of these before!"

Darby's has always been tough to find.

I got a kick out of Panini in 2014 making a variety of Darby's panels
this image I got from COMC, they have a bunch

I'm not a type collector, but when I see Tris Speaker that's exactly how I feel! I read online that a die-cut (by a kid) single panel sold for $600. So these might be out of my price range!

As the story goes, some rare Darbys were found tacked to a shed and had suffered burn damage. Some restored, others not. Many of us will remember Dennis Purdey, who published VCBC back when and became de facto a leading expert on them.
Don't know if Denis is still with us, but I hope so. I loved his articles tearing large strips of hide off Alan Hager's back who was trying to pull some scam with Darbys.

Several of them sold in early 2013. They were found taped to the back of a cabinet and SGC-authenticated. The Myers then was flipped into a LOTG auction where it sold again for $600.

That's so 2013. I remember buying a Sports King Ruth in lower condition sometime shortly after this for $500, and then later in the year flipped it for a cool $50 bill more.

Just a reminder to all that 2013-esque like stabilization in the market (Darby or otherwise) is always a possibility in the future.

I had 8-10 of them, bought most of them in 1 lot through REA. Most had burn damage and the Cobb was restored to the point it looked fake. I can’t remember if I sold them to you Dan or if you had them before REA? I also acquired the Wagner/Snodgrass box at an East Coast National many moons ago. I currently don’t own any. The majority of them reside in a prominent East Coast collection.

There are 2 different Cobb poses in the Darbys. One is similar to the e94/e98 pose and the other is where he’s holding a bat.
