To which grader are you submitting it?

Looks pretty solid to me. The perforation lines are a little concerning, since they leave the individual stamps off-centered.

And it looks like there might be some minor issues along the sides. It makes the sides look a little crooked.

The challenge is that our good friends at PSA are a bit screwy when grading large pieces this way. I’ve seen pieces that look like this grade as high as maybe a PSA 6 or a 7.

At the same time, there might be some reason why they look at it and find some flaw that drops it down to just authentic. You mentioned that the perforations are intact, but maybe they find one that’s a little weak or something, and that torpedoes the whole thing.

I’ve submitted probably 30+ of these, and the above has been my experience.

So good luck. Hopefully you get a grader that isn’t used to looking at 2023 refractors, and knows how to grade these exotic pieces.

How nice of them. How's that work in terms of compensation? I would want significantly more than the item is worth if my rare piece was destroyed.

I would think you would get a check for 2000 and let them keep the ripped panel.

Obviously the challenge is trying to settle on a price for this piece in its original state, and I guess a value for the newly created pieces. Given that these babies don't trade every day, there's going to be a fat range. Plus it's anyone's guess as to whether it would really receive an 8.

If nothing else, there should be more public shaming when they destroy a piece like this.

This is why I have never submitted personally w/ PSA. They are supposed to cut you a fat check when something like that happens, not nickel and dime you to death with coupons.

If there are separations in the perforation is it automatically "Authentic" for PSA?

Just curious Larry, did they separate it into 2 six panel pieces with Mantle and May on bottom of one ? How “well” was the separation done and what grades were they giving on the separated pieces ?

Sorry that happened to you. Next time you send them a submission, pay in $100 bills and separate them down the middle.
