Default Poll: Last 4 pieces of bread left, how do you handle it?

You are down to the last four pieces of bread in your loaf and are ready to make a ham and cheese sandwich. How do you handle it?

It depends on my mood at that moment, sometimes I just make odd sandwiches.

It would also depend on if the kids might want a sandwich. They're currently a bit picky about the edges of the bread, I can't imagine they would be ok with a slice that was nothing but edges. I'm not picky, so I'd have the heels, and make theirs with the regular slices. I'd probably also eat the crusts I cut off their sandwich.

don't know but I went to two grocery stores this morning intending to buy flour and yeast to make my own bread, for the heck of it. Both stores were completely out of both items. One store did have plenty of toilet paper but you can't make a sandwich with that.

In my loaf the last 4 pieces would be three regular pieces and the back heel. Should I disqualify myself?

When my kids were little, I would eat the heels and leave the good slices for them. Now that they’re older, it’s every man for himself. My oldest son likes the heels best, so it works out nicely.

Yeah the poll makes no sense to me. Why would there be two heels in the last four slices? Either throw them away or stop procrastinating and eat the slices of bread in order as they come out of the bag.

Well, if you don't eat the first piece you end up with 2 heels. Makes perfect sense to me.

If I only have a heel I take a large serrated knife and try to slice off the crusty part. If the heel is large you can do it. Even if its thin you can scrape most off. I have to do this if I am making french toast.

Pepperidge Farm German Dark Wheat. My wife would happily eat the heels and I would happily eat the regular slices. This is how we remain happily married.
