Default OT, Opinions needed

So, I recently found some sketches from my grandfather who passed away in 1998. These sketches are from 1955 or so.

There is one that caught my eye and I am looking to get a tattoo of it and possibly make a logo out of it for shirts and things like that.

But I want to make sure the image is not racist or can be deemed racist before I start.

I had the image cleaned up from the drawing so i could better use it.

Let me know what you think:

Heck, I'll walk blindfolded into this mine field. Why not?

If your logo was just empty space, some 'woke' idiot would call you a racist due to the emptiness being white, and not reflective of other races. You can't win, so do what you think is right.

My girlfriend proudly calls herself a 'halfer' - her mother is 100% Korean. She said, "What's the problem? Because the guy looks angry?" I said no, what race do you think the guy is, and she said, "Oh, I guess he could be a fat black guy, like in 'Pulp Fiction,' maybe a white guy or an Asian...but I guess, probably Asian????" She was unsure. I assume that's what you're worried about, looking like an Asian stereotype??

If you're overly concerned, then fine tune the pic a bit to eliminate anything you fear will be problematic. By doing that, there's an added benefit. Now it would be an illustration drawn by both your grandfather AND you together, which might make the end result more poignant.

Anything can be considered racist by morons. I tend to avoid caring what they think. Also when did anyone ever get a tattoo and worry if it offended anyone? If you like it get it, if not don't.

LOL. Why would you ask for opinions about your tattoos on a baseball card forum? Hopefully you have family and friends who can give you better counsel. God bless you if you don't.

The question was not about a tattoo.. that is going to happen. The question was about using the image as a logo.

It is easy to find offense where none is intended. Why worry about someone else's tender sensibilities? When anyone asks me a question I find intrusive I usually respond with "Why do you ask?" and keep repeating that response. If someone is offended give them a hammer and directions to the beach so they can pound sand.

To me it looks a lot like actor Dean Norris

To answer your question, and many on the board would probably find me to be one of those overly sensitive woke morons, I don’t see an issue. It could be a Chinese man. It could be an old Italian man. It could be Don Rickles.

Since you are asking for opinions:

1) The image is NOT racist.

2) Can someone deem it to be racist? Of course. People can overreact or
misinterpret just about anything, sometimes due to a misplaced belief
that they are a qualified social "hallway monitor", sometimes for their
own advantage. Happens on these boards regularly, for example.

Silly concern and not ever worth being concerned with.

The only people that would complain are just looking for reasons to be offended. When that is your only frame of mind, it’s simple to find innocent things to demonize all day.

Related story, my son’s mother is Chippewa. Not a little, so much so she was raised on the reservation and her uncle was the chief until he moved on.

My son was raised to love his heritage both Indian and Irish. He loves the powwow’s and has traditional clothing handmade by family to wear when he goes.

His favorite shirt was brought at a powwow we attended that has the Detroit Lions (our favorite team)helmet logo with a full headdress. He loves to wear it on game days for support.

Well, of course he had to have some of my genes also. He has sandy blonde hair and blue eyes. His first year of college one of the great white women defenders of the world cornered him for a lecture on how he can’t wear his shirt because of the evil cultural appropriation he was doing.

He flashed his tribal member card and quickly gave her the verbal blast of a lifetime that I won’t repeat, lol. I don’t think I could have been more proud when he told me.

Point being, who cares about twits opinions…just do it.

Add “I don’t like it!” Embroidery on the back of a khaki dad cap and I’ll take one.

You can have a line of clothing for us grumpy old men, lol.
