I noticed there is a new baseball card show that is being advertised in New York. It's November 15-16, 2008 at the Queens College Gym

I have no idea what dealers will be there or how much vintage, but it seems like it's a large show.

Any thoughts on how this will compare to the shows at Hofstra University? I hadn't heard of this show at all before this. I may try to get there. Curious if anyone knows anything else about it. The last show at Hofstra had more bigger autograph guests, not sure how that relates to the show quality though. I met Whitey Ford at the last show and got a signature and a picture with him. That was pretty cool.

Any updates on this show from any Net 54 members who attended today? I am trying to decide whether to go tomorrow, it's about an hour drive for me.

Thanks

Went to the show today. I noticed 1-1 1/2 Prewar dealers.
I spoke to a few dealers and was told that they felt it was the worst show they did in years. One called it a glorified yard sale. The quality of merchadise was terrible quoted the second dealer. I attend the 2 Hofstra
shows and the 2 in white plains and I didn't notice a dealer that I reconized from either show at today's show.
Had a few bucks to spends, but nothing really caught my eye. Anyone else have an opinion

Mike-

Is 1 to 1-1/2 pre war dealers - really 1 pre war dealer plus another dealer with some pre war- or is it just one really fat prewar dealer?

Please clarify when you get a chance.

Also, I hear the yard sale people are complaining about being compared to the card show in question....

Mike, Was it me or was it a long walk to get to the room that show was actally held in? Not a good show at all. They should of payed me $5.00 to attend. From entrance to actaul was a long walk.

I ended up not going. Thankfully, I guess. It would have been over an hour drive for me and I was just to skeptical of the show. I was trying to find more info online about it but couldn't. You'd think if it was as big and as good as they were advertising, there would have been some info on it at the hofstra show.

The question on the dealers. One dealer had 2 small showcases of prewar cards and the other had a half of a showcase of prewar. There was major construction on the campus all day on sunday making the entire area around the show a disaster. There were only two signs for the show 1 about 6 blocks away and the other at the entrance, they both look like my 4 year made them. If you were not familar with where the gym was you would not find it. They didn't even have a sign on the door of the gym. I felt the show was put on by a 1st time show promoter. There was 1 ad in the newsday about three weeks ago, and they had there flyer's at the Long Island National a few
week ago. When I heard the New York State National with 500 table, I expected many quality dealers. I counted
about 50 dealers with the average of 5+ tables each, One guy in the front have 10 tables of wax packs boxes. I think the dealer's expected alot more then they got.
My final opinion is you had a new promoter that myself and very few dealer at the show even knew trying to put on a show that in name only sounded like a hofstra or east coast national in white palins. But to the disapointment of many mostly the dealers. Good Try guys

I personally did not care for the show. But my son being 5 yrs old enjoyed himself there I did think they had a lot of 1 dollar 2 dollar stuff at the tables that I did buy for my son to make him happy. So i guess not a total waste.
