Default 54 Aaron rookie card fake??

I mostly just read this forum and collect a little.
I ran accross this at a local collectibles auction.

I have not seen it in person and pics are bad.
I am no expert but this screams fake to me.

What is others opinion?
Thanks

Yeah, I wouldn't touch that. Overall printing quality has the characteristics of a fake...pretty much a sure thing.

Not to mention perfect centering, sharp corners and edges...extremely unlikely things to find on an authentic raw Aaron RC

Go back the place and take a loupe, or magnifier up to lets say 100x and examine the print dots. That will tell you rather quickly.

Thanks for input.
It is about a 3 hour roundtrip drive so probably won't go look at it.
I'll file it under the too good to be true category

Just wondering, is using a high-powered loupe comparable to a photo scan at around 600 DPI? For instance, would these three scans at that resolution confirm the issue or not?

A 10x loupe gives great detail. 100x is massive overkill. 600 dpi is quite good resolution (as in the 3 images you provided) and you can tell from that.

Scans are great. I like to put them on my TV so you have a huge picture to look at.

All good info, I keep one of these cheap lighted ones in my bag for any shows as it honestly is awesome for someone farsighted.

Oh for the OP, you didn’t miss out on anything. That card is as real as a three dollar bill.

Both those bills have the same serial number.

So one of them must be a rare valuable variation!!

I am actively buying and selling vintage sports cards graded and raw. Feedback as a buyer: https://www.net54baseball.com/showthread.php?t=297262

I am accepting select private consignments of quality vintage cards (raw or graded) and collecting "want" lists for higher end ($1K+) vintage cards.

The inclusion of "Topps" in the title should be sufficient grounds for a return.
