Picked up a couple of new pennants.
Other than a tiny bit of the tip missing this SF Giants pennant is in really good condition. Cool graphics too.


Ordinarily I wouldn't buy a pennant with damage like this but on a rare pennant like this I can live with it. Its a shame to because if it were not for the holes above the scroll and the piece missing from the tip it would be a true, mint condition, gem. No tac holes, tassels are there, color hasn't faded a bit, and still has the "new" feel to it that I imagine it had in '54.

A Triumvirate of holy grail postcards -thanks to a Net54 lurker

1908 Lincoln Railsplitters (Western League) future major leaguers pictured include Chief Johnson, Claude Hendrix, Ed Gagnier and Bill Davidson


c1915 Omaha Rourkes posing with Billy Sunday...I have only begun to research this one, but I think 1915 is a good date as Sunday came to Omaha and spent 4 months "cleaning up the town"...I also found a picture of the 1916 Omaha team and the uniforms were exactly like this.


1910 Nebraska Indians - This is the only specimen of this type I have ever seen.

It's been a good october.

Picked this up at an estate auction today -Mid 1880s I'd guess judging from the gloves and the bat. Note the fingerless glove on the fella in the left front row.



It's Iowa so if anyone has a Nebraska photo they'd like to trade this one is available.

Marty:

Mike H, Greg T, and Rob D could all give you some great custom framing advice. I do my own framing with black sectionals, for a uniform look among all my stuff... nice for me, but not overly imaginitive.

The guys mentioned above (and I know I've overlooked others) have all used professional framers, and have exhibited some amazing work on Net 54. The Matty would be stunning, if framed properly. If you search a few previous threads for "framing" or "pennants", you'll see some marvelous examples which may provide you some good ideas.

Regarding the Pennant Lot you won, I feel that the green Brooklyn Pennant is waaaaay undervalued. It clearly depicts Jackie Robinson in his playing days, and is an important/very attractive piece. These are now drying up big time, so that was a very nice acquisition. Congrats!

Nice pickups Dan! Here's a new one that I decided to grab after some help from Mark (thanks again Mark). I decided to frame this one because of the condition and the facts around this "phantom" For one, the first Japanese born to play in the big leagues is on this pennant - Murakami.

The pennant is inset slightly so is not making contact with the glass.

Just got my dream item in a trade from Mark.

1926 yankee team signed baseball. Ruth is on the sweetspot and Lou gehrig on the side panel. The ruth is the best on the ball and the Gehrig grades about a 2. And i believe Miller Huggins is above Gehrig but its very faded.

Well... there was a bit more to the trade than that. Without disclosing all details, I will say it was a blockbuster! It almost fell through at one point, but we managed to pull it off.

Without saying exactly how many times we countered each other (I'm not even sure that I know the number), suffice it to say that Brock would do quite well in Tijuana... anyone who's shopped there knows what I'm saying!

Safe to say that this forum is blessed with two very sharp (and very young) "Brocks" - both of whom bode well for the future of our hobby!
