Default Dodger Hat

Hi. I post here only irregularly, but read the posts all the time. Let me introduce myself and seek help! My name is Dan and i am a jersey collector. I am an advanced flannel collector, but a know nothing about hats. Recently i purchased a dodger jersey i wanted from 51. the jersey came with pants (which were junk) and a hat. I am assuming the hat is junk too, but it is a New Era cap. My assumption is that the dodgers wore spalding hats. I have not seen a new era pro model cap until much later. is my assumption correct?
Mercifully the shirt is real and the patch seems real too. Any thoughts on 1951 Dodger hats welcome.
Dan

Default Hat

It is possible that New Era made the cap. They did make the hats for some MLB teams as early as the 30's and they made other teams hats into the 50s and 60s.

Dan,

See post #49 in the thread linked below. This should at least give you a little direction.

This may be the deciding factor...

Does your '51 Dodger Cap have a sewn-on size tag, or is the hat size printed on the sweatband. If it's the latter, then that's a very good sign.

Default Spent weekend looking for tag

Found no evidence of size tag either on band or in hat. I am back to thinking this is just old hat
