I was watching it too. I don't think it says Mathewson. There is a Henry M on the same panel which made me think maybe the Mathewson brothers. But I highly doubt it.

Yah, I was questioning those as well. Normally I don't, but so many so fast, I think he may have been pumping his own auction as I couldn't make out any of the names, and not sure if anyone else still has.

Unless it was a Christy Mathewson game used ball from 2nd grade, that sig doesn't look at all like his.

Is it just me, or doesn't the fact that it is attached to a base kill the value anyway? I wouldn't want it for that reason alone.

I think it could have been fairly easily been removed from the base, and then yes you'd have a minor hole or a at best a mark, but it would display better then....yup, on that base.
