Adam,

You outdid me on those wrigley exhibits...nice pick up. I was wondering if you would be willing to sell me (trade me) for the Alexander out of that set...Thanks,

Joshua

PS All I got this week was an early exhibit of Matty's Hall of Fame Bust.

I got a '33 Goudey Jack Quinn PSA 2. Trying to buy up all the lesser expensive cards until I have to sell a kidney for the 4 Ruths. It's alot of fun collecting this set.

Adam, those Wrigley exhibits sound cool. Do you have pictures?

Well as most of you know I'm a third generation collector and I have a 4 year old son. Well for the first time about a month ago, Hunter and I sat down for almost 2 hours going through my topps sets. I would mix all the cards up and he loved to put them in order. Never the less it has given me a new least on collecting again so I have decided to do second sets of some of my favorites. T206, E145, 1933 & 1934 Goudey, 1952-1957 Topps. So in the last month I have been buying a lot of stuff!! I have always thought you should get the bleeding over early and buy the big guys first when you can find them. So here's the list of what I picked up this month.

T206
I had quite a few dups already but I'm just trying for the HOF'ers right now. I'm trying to collect in VG-EX to EX. You know crease free well centered cards.
Bender, Port & No Trees
Bresnahan, Port
Chance, Red Port
Clarke, Port
Evers, Port & Cubs
Tinker. Port
Waddell, Port

E145
Not really concerned with condition here. Still need a lot of help. I just love these cards.
Bender
Brown
Jackson

Colgan Chip
Ty Cobb (No Team)

1933 Goudey
One of my favorite sets. Easy to find and lots of HOF'ers. My first set is very nice so I thought I would put a lower grade set for Hunter to have fun with.
Three of the four Babe Ruth's Only need the red one!!
Both Lou Gerhig's

1933 Sport King
Ty Cobb

1934 Goudey
Both Lou Gehrig's

1952 Topps
I know it's not pre-war, but the 50's cards are where the hobby really evolved. These sets bring back a lot of memories for me. This set took my father and I three years and a lot of fun going to shows to finish.
Mantle PSA 1
Complete Dodger set including the high numbers VG-EX to EX

1953 Topps
Mantle
Page

1955 Topps
To many to list only missing 30 cards for set got all the big stuff.

1956
Had a lot of dups already so I just filled all the HOF'ers in. Need about 100 cards still. Mostly commons.

1957
My all time favorite 50's set. Got a large group from a good friend, and bought a big group from a dealer friend. So I only need about 75 cards and I have all the big stuff.

Man this set building is a lot more easy but not as much fun with ebay. So as you can see I have been very busy. Man I do love this hobby. Great thread Adam. Will I be seeing you at the Hollywood Park show?

But a couple of good ones (at least to me) that I won this week, but will not get until next week. I was lucky enough to get a "second chance" offer from the seller of an E92 Croft's Candy Wagner Throwing SGC 40 that I was the fourth highest bidder on - I was able to pick it up for more than $300 less than it originally sold for, so I was happy with that (thank God someone didn't pay). Also, I won a couple of E104-1's in the John and Judy Burk auction Mack and Hartsel. I will probably list the Hartsel on eBay and Keep the Mack (the one I really wanted).

Scott,

I was the underbidder on that Wagner card and I also got a bogus "second chance offer."

The link is for a scam website asking for your ID and password. I'm not sure whether yours is bad, but mine sure was and I had to change all my passwords. Be careful!

I finally got my four photos from the 1919 World Series taken during and after Game 1 at Redland Field. They were taken by a fan in the grandstands. Special thanks to the Post Office who failed to notify me that they had the parcel. (It was sitting on a shelf for nearly a month until I went to file a claim for a missing parcel and discovered they had it!) Sorry, no scan available at the moment.

I thought so, too, Quan - looks like a sure-fire 5 to me. I even wrote that in my comments when I registered it on PSA.

However, I've seen better threes than that Tinker - but I really like it! Great cards!

While not exactly a baseball card, I thought this Newsboy of De Wolf Hopper had a neat baseball connection.

1910 Obaks Series of 150 Coy and two more on the way off-line which would leave me with only 3 150 Series cards to go.

Sweet Cap P-2 pins of Jennings LL, Bresnahan mouth open and Matty LL which puts me close on that set.

Two more Red Cycle back T207s as I try to get all the scarce back cards with red Cycle backs.

E97 B & W proof Carrigan.

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you pay for the e97 b/w proof and what's the condition? I'm trying to get a fix on the market value of these cards these days.

A nice little group of T206 all purchased seperately. Consider them 'off' condition, very presentable, but not slab worthy...

I wanted the Harvard because it is so beautiful, but the one I got (weight thrower) fit in much better with my track and field type set.

Beautiful cabinet-size color lithos.
