Thanks. The Rixey is one of the 1961 Fleer I need, but looks like too strong a signature for his age at the time.

Both bad and look at his others like his 1977 TCMA Campanella. Jim Stinson always told me to look at their other listings too and if you see some obvious bad ones then beware

They’re all garbage. He has been selling a bunch of stuff. Some of his items are really good forgeries, but most are poorly done. I guess if you forge hundreds of items some are bound to turn out decent. There’s been a bunch of bad signed stuff on eBay lately in the vintage market. I guess once eBay decided to stop doing anything to curb forgeries it really opened the floodgates for the garbage to turn up. Most are really bad, but there’s a bunch of east coast people selling some good forgeries. I know other Net54 people know hear guys, but just don’t want to call them out publicly.

Saw that, didn't look real close, but assumed it was a Roxie signature anyway.

He has a Callahan Cobb at $10 now, ending tomorrow!!

The Garvey is what drew me to his listings. It just looks horrible, but why really bother? That is maybe, MAYBE at $10 card with a legit sig. I know $10 is $10, but at least get it in the ballpark.

The bolded part of your question is a salient point. Many people are under the mistaken belief that ALL forgers do it for monetary gain. There are and have been a number of forgers who do it because they can and enjoy the thrill of fooling people. I believe Charles Hamilton in his book "Collecting Autographs and Manuscripts" touches on this point. It may have been the first prolific Abraham Lincoln forger who did it for the thrill. His tell, if I recall, was that he neglected to raise the 'ln' in Lincoln as it was in genuine signatures.

Let's not forget that monetary gain is relative. If it takes me 10 seconds to forge a signature on a 10¢ card which I then sell for $5.00 that is quite a profit. Do that for an hour and that is over $1500.00. Up the sale price by $1.00, $2.00 or $5.00 and the increase is exponential.
