Default Johnny Bench SHILLITO'S??

I sent a Bench “card” to PSA a while ago. I don’t know where I got it from or what it brand it is.

I see it in QA2 listed as:
1976 SHILLITO'S KAHN'S JOHNNY BENCH KENWOOD PLAZA
It looks like the 68-70 Partridge Meats but says “Kenwood Plaza” instead.

Does anyone know anything about SHILLITO’S? It seems I may have wasted some $$ getting it graded. I don’t know the grade yet

Update: I just did a Google search and found info on forums.collectors.com. It seems it should be dated 68-70.

Thanks

That card is certainly worth getting graded. PSA grades them as 76's but I have read (probably the same info.) that it is really 68-70 just like the Partridge Meats card. Hopefully you land a high grade. What grade are you expecting?

Thanks for the info. I’m not sure about that the grade. I sent in so many cards and it’s been so long, I can’t remember what it looked like.

I’m hoping for at least a 7.

If you land a 7 that would be a major score. A POP 7 card as of now so a 7 would be outstanding. I have one of the PSA 3's.

PSA 10: 1
PSA 9: 1
PSA 7: 2
PSA 6: 1
PSA 3: 2

I appreciate the information. It’s in PSA QA2 so I should be getting the grade soon. I’ll post the grade when I receive it. Thanks!

I have a PSA 9 Kenwood Plaza. This should actually be classified as a 1970. Here is Cincinnati Enquirier clipping dated 8/21/1970 where it talks about the event.

I just received an email today that it was out of “dispute”. I had questioned the date of 1976. It’s still in QC2, I expect to hear something very soon.

The Kenwood is slightly larger in size than the Partridge meats and I believe PSA and SGC still grade these as 68-70. PSA will not grade the Shillitos, but a web friend of mine was able to get Shillitos graded by SGC, the one I had sold him.
Shillitos is the most rare of the 4 types, followed by Jamesway Trucking, Kenwood Plaza, and Partridge Meats. Hope this helps

Thanks for the information on SGC grading the Shillitos Johnny Bench. I submitted mine to SGC for grading. I wish I could just find a Jamesway Trucking.

There are two on WorthPoint. They won't let you see the date when they were sold anymore unless you pay a membership.

Default Worthpoint price

I have a membership. On the page, the Bench to the left sold on 5/24/2013 for $350. The other sold on 6/29/2009 for $250

Wow! Pretty expensive for back in 2009 & 2013. I wonder what they would sell for now? 1,000’s??

Thanks for the information
