Default Huh?

I don't collect modern but I ran across this one on an eBay 1966 Topps search. Carlton threw his first career shutout winning 2-1 (?!?). Actually the score was 3-0, I think the person writing up the back confused it with his W-L record after the game while getting the information from Baseball Reference.

Maybe in the true essence of flashbacks they decided they should write the reverse text while actually on LSD?

HA. Awesome...just awesome... I guess whoever was doing the writing either couldn't bother to actually consider what they were writing, or didn't understand the meaning of the word shutout.

Reminds me of whenever I hear an announcer shout..."And he slides into second...with a stand-up double!!!"

/facepalm

Perhaps this was a "throwback" to the poor quality assurance of the 1960's? Or maybe it's just an example of the poor quality assurance of today.

No doubt that is the 2-1 variation. The 3-0 must be out there
