Default Bob Gibson's Legendary Auction

Who I'd like to see win these items, and how I'd like to see Gibson respond.

Does anyone know why Gibson is selling the items? I also heard that the items may not belong to Gibson currently as they were seized from a storage unit. Is there any truth to this?

I'd love to attend their live auction while I'm at the National. Too bad I can't afford the $100 donation fee.

My guess is that the storage unit stuff was separate from these items, as many of these come with Gibson's LOA. I remember seeing stuff auctioned from the storage unit and it didn't include anything on the order of MVP Awards.

Gibby's not selling these since he needs cash. I heard that all proceeds will be donated to BAT (Baseball Assistance Team that helps ex players in need).
If so that's pretty damn generous.

Default Gibson just got tired of the stuff

I know a close friend of Gibson (probably doesn't have many) who handled all the PR work for him when he had his charity golf outings here in Omaha for years. I contacted him about this when I first saw the ads, and he said Gibson had talked about it for years, he had had the stuff long enough and wanted to sell it with some of the proceeds to go to his favorite charities.

It's possible that some consignors will insist they get paid before BAT.
