Default PSA complete through dates stalled

I sent some (modern) cards to PSA on 3/3/21. They acknowledged receipt on 3/17/21 and entered them into the system on 4/26/21. I've been checking the complete through dates to guess when I'd get the cards back (9 months? 10 months? A year?...), but every time I checked in the past few weeks it says 3/4/21 is the complete through date for value modern. I see also they announced at that time that they were replacing complete through dates with estimated turnaround times but only for economy or higher.

Does anyone know what's happening with all the modern cards that were submitted last March and April? Or, more to the point, how many more weeks it's likely to be before I get my cards back?

Zero idea. For a frame of reference, I have TWO ordered that were logged in on May 9th, 2021. One was ticket stubs (went to assembly a couple of days ago), and the other is swinging 60's, (which is still in grading).

Default PSA backlog

Me too. I have 3 orders that were received by PSA in March 2021 and logged in 5/6/21. All in "grading" status for at least a month now. Hard to believe it has been over 14 months now. I've suspected that their new $50 grading special and their Ebay deal would stall the order submissions. Others are "cutting the line" ahead of me I'm sure.

They did recently stop giving monthly percentages, which were helpful as you’d see a date like “June1”, but “75% of June complete”.

Don’t worry, the cards being sent to them from every EBay order over $250 won’t slow them down at all.

Update: In the 28 days since I started this thread, PSA's complete through dates for the "value modern" category have moved ahead from 3/4/21 to 3/7/21, and my cards have moved one step forward from grading to assembly. It looks like they might get them back to me by July 16th, which will mark exactly 500 days since I sent the cards in.

I suggest to Scott that he stop doing that thing that would cause him to have such a large family of little submissions.

Default Way TOO LONG

I have 1 order (250 cards) Value Modern Received 3/16/21. Entered 4/30/21 Made it to QCheck1 Today! 2nd order 25 card value vintage, received same day 3/16/21 entered 1 day earlier 4/29/21 and still in grading! 425/426 days! There are cards in these orders if they do not 10 and they will not, are worth less than the $20 submission fee as the market for such cards has gone bye bye, like my cards. Jeff W

When the anger over ridiculously long delays, coupled with the grading company’s poor attitude towards its own customers, grows so intense that you swear you will never spend another dime sending cards their way.

See also: The Vainglory of their Times - the smugness of PSA not giving a rat’s ass about the pathetic length of time it takes for them to grade and return the cards of loyal customers.

Default PSA Order back?!?!

I just received my 250 card order back after 16 months. Just as background info I have been in the business since 1978! I think I can grade cards pretty well as I have a return rate in my auctions of less than 1% and ebay is about the same. I have opened about 1/2 the order and that is all it took to stop and rant. Their grading is PATHETIC at best. I have cards in this order that are plastic cards. Would literally need to be put in a fire or rolled under a car to be damaged and they received 5's and 6's. A slew of modern centered cards did not receive anything but 8's with a single 9. 7 cards deemed minsizeQ (Another money grab by PSA). Cannot wait to open the other half. Jeff W

Now on (I believe) their 10th day of "assembly," my cards will apparently not get back to me within the first 500 days.

Money grab ? They don’t freaking charge you on minimum size. If you are going to bitch at least be factually accurate ffs. Frankly I think they’ve been pretty good lately.

To get the fact right THEY SIMPLY HAVE TOO MANY CHEFS IN THE KITCHEN. They have no clue. I have spoken to numerous, "Major graders, Auction Houses" and most if not all agree right no the grading is suspect at best. Not too worried about the 7 card no charged for min sz more bitching about the 100+ cards that ware just a complete JOKE. Especially after 16 months. Add up all of the wrongs by them and there is not much right! Jeff W

It makes sense that the complete-thru has ground to a halt....it's at the spot where they had to shut down, so you know they were getting absolutely buried in submissions.

That's the answer -- they were getting some crazy number of submits the last few days they were open. When you get a foot of snow in one day that will take a lot longer to dig out than six inches over the previous month...

My vintage sub mentioned above just moved into Assembly today (7/11). I'd say my "any day now" on 6/1 was a tad optimistic. Interested to see how long the order sits in Assembly. It's only 11 cards, although not sure that matters.

Unbelievable what I'm reading in this thread...and yet the cards keeps coming.

Who in their right mind would find this acceptable? Acceptable enough to keep giving them your money? It's almost illegal that they would have your money 16 months while you get nothing. They should refund your interest.

Bob, Is it not crazy? Life is not long enough to wait for 2 years for bad grades. To each their own, I guess. I remember 25 years ago on the phone with PSA that my cards were out for 6 weeks. The insanity! The outrage! They apologized and sent me 8 nines, 1 ten, and an eight, when I thought I was getting 8 8's and 2 nines. The guy I bought the cards from basically left the hobby in disgust.

Got them back yesterday. Grades mostly as expected. Total wait time came to 505 days - 5 with the USPS and 500 at PSA.

Maybe we should make PSA a government agency.

sounds like the 250 card worthless lot was worth the wait. PSA, have to love them to get 250 "Plastic" cards graded. If you want to be angry at someone look in the mirror, LOL. That's where the anger should originate. Not with those known flam artists. Don't be so hard on yourself. Just stop it and you'll get over it eventually.

The wait time on either is much better than a PSA submission. The payback...debatable. Time will tell.

Chuck, not sure what planet you collect or deal on, but on this planet a business should be run with some customer appreciation as that is who pays the bills. PSA has NONE! Jeff W

Default Time is money!

A friend send a bunch of current modern cards, and lost a potential $20,000 in profit by the time he received them back a year later--might be best to send cards that should hold some value with these kinds of long turn around times.

Oh, I couldn't agree with you more. Their lack of concern for customers, their criminality are all reason not to deal with the company. Any company. You knew they were/are F faces and you sent cards to them anyway. Cards that had no business going there to, IMHO. That's on you my handsome friend.

I won't be a billionaire, but I run an ethical, timely business where I answer my clients questions and get done what is asked of me. Most of my clients dwarf P S And A. That's what service companies do. Not spit at their customers.

I wouldn't send them a ham SUB sandwich to grade. I don't care about their re tard ed registry or the 500 day waits. I only care about POPOPOPOPOPOPOPOPOPP. Do you see how stupid that word is? POP. Their service is for nimrods. Just stop it. Hope you're cured.

Glenn,

Just be happy it is not PennDoT (Pennsylvania Department of Transportation). The date would be at some point in the mid 1950s and the grade would be poor regardless of the submission because of PennDoT's talent at evaluation.

Grades popped on this sub today. Arrived at PSA 3/11/21, checked in 4/22/21. Assembly on 7/11/22 and now grades on 8/8/22.

So, not fast.

The good news is that the grades are actually better than I'd expected, so there's something.

Pop one open for me! I'm going to go against the norm and say that I'm actually happy with my grades, and a few are higher than I expected.

I'll share pics and stories on the appropriate monthly pickup thread when they arrive.

Good for you! That seems to be an increasingly rare experience these days, at least with PSA and SGC...

Yes!!! If ya ask either of the grading companies they will tell you nothing has changed and they are grading the same for years and that it is all due to the submitters' expectations.

Well, with all the 2022 cards for sale on ebay, somebody is getting cards graded fast as you wait 15 months for your return. How can that be?

.." higher than I expected ".....?? ---: no one on here has used those words for a PSA grading in more than five years . ; please don't wait until September 1st to share the return of these miracles . Thanks from all of us.

Yeah.

Subjectively expecting something merely approaching objective consistency.
