There was an "Ernest" G Diehl who played 4 seasons in the majors from 1903 to 1909.

The signature dates to 1907, I was thinking it might be Ernest(Ernie) Diehl, but it does sort of look like Erwin.

Looks like Erwin to me too, and Ernie Diehl's given name was Ernest so I doubt he would have signed anything Erwin.

It doesn't match the signature of Ernie Diehl, the ballplayer from Cincinnati. There was an Erwin G. Diehl, born August 8, 1891 in Bucks Co., PA, who lived in the Philadelphia area. Never a ballplayer, though. Perhaps it could be him.
