Default 1975 Boston Herald Red Sox

I am constantly working on my player collections of Dwight Evans and Jim Rice. Years ago I added to my want list for each "1975 Boston Herald Red Sox", and have never seen anything that matches this (got the listing, I think, from the old Alphabetical Checklist book). I finally found this on eBay - is this what these refer to? If so, I'm not sure I'm going to keep them on my want list as this really starts to veer away from anything like a "card"....thanks to anyone who might be able to help!

The Herald American included individual Phil Bissell cartoons of each player (head and shoulders) about this time, so I suppose that is what you're looking for. These were to be cut from the paper, not a send-away offer. Good luck!

Thanks - so, the large covers of which this is one (and I think I saw a Yaz/Petrocelli too) are likely not what I'm chasing - there were smaller cartoons of individual players inside the paper?

Thanks again!

Definitely. Somewhere I have the set in "proof" form as I worked for the Herald then. I even have a few of the original cartoons.

Fortunately the Boston Herald archives are included on GenealogyBank.com.

Phil Bissell did a lot of work for the Herald in 1975, not just the Red Sox portraits. But that's not important right now.

Beginning in the August 3rd, Sunday Herald Advertiser, they were printed in several batches. They were probably about 3"x4"?

I've attached a pic of what you're looking for. I have the complete set of 26 of these (however the original owner glued them to cardboard. I bought the set years ago for the Carlton Fisk, but still have all other others. They are approximately 2.75" x 3.75" in size.

Thanks - now at least I know what it is I'm looking for. Let me know if you'd consider parting ways with Dewey or Jim.
