Default Scam Alert

I got taken for $600 for a 1971 Munson Milk Duds Box PSA 7

cert # 28926527

They are using this card to scam posters

using name Jefferson Harper , Candace Ridlehoover <candacecanchridleho39510@gmail.com>

here are some of the messages

this promise will not be broken this time.
You will not regret it.
Send me a 100 and I will send your 500 immediately.

I realized you didn't believe me on the card anymore.
And I want to prove to you that I'm not on here to scam people.

I want a 100 to be my gain despite all the sourness is this transaction.
That's why I'm asking for a 100 now so I can send you your 500 right away so we can both move on

With all due respect, I'm sorry you got taken, but how do you read any of those messages and NOT immediately see it's a scam??? The 'author' obviously doesn't speak English and they look like they were copied and pasted from one of the countless 'Nigerian Prince' scam e-mails that fill everybody's spam folders.

Yes. Sorry this happened. But why would they need another $100.00 to send back your $500.00? They should have just sent you $400.00.

Sorry this happened. I am not sure what to say but that will unfortunately be a lesson learned. Those messages are way over the top on Scam Radar. And whomever it was didn't have very many, or any posts, and registered very recently. (I am just guessing) And in reality they didn't register they just signed up and found a crack in the software. We have been talking about this for months on the front page. Once again, sorry it happened. That sucks.

Wait, you started multiple threads when this person ripped you off last time. They come back and ask for $100 to send your original $500 back and you sent it?

Are you really that gullible?

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

I am not going to comment on this specific situation, but I joined this Forum last month and have already had 4 scam attempts……I posted about the most recent just the other day when a registered member sent me an offer for a card he had for sale with different PSA numbers on the back and front of the case….

Be careful folks….and always remember…..there is always another in this hobby that you will want for your collection…

I hate to be that guy but holy BLEEB is that funny. I wonder if he knows I can get his $600 back if he sends me $200.

Okay, this is purely conjecture on my part, but does anyone know if "Mrmiamih" is actually the Hausan or Yoruban word for "Prince"?

And now he's banned. Apparently "Mrmiamih" does mean "Nigerian Prince."

None of my/out business, but I wonder why he was banned….

For being dumb as a brick?

Guys, in the last month I have posted several “WTB posts” and gotten scammers responding to every single one (I have also had real inquiries). The scam emails are so F-ing obvious! Use your head.

Yes I've had the same happen. From many of the same people. I guess all we can do is let Leon know. I just had one reply to my 59 B. Gibson request. And he/she had a 59 B. Gibson PSA 10 for sale asking what I would offer. Can't make this up.

One time Homer Simpson bought a bucket of old meat because it was on sale cheap. It made him really sick, so he went back to the store to demand a refund. The store owner instead offered him TWO buckets of old meat, which Homer thought was great.

But they made him sick too.

Have also posted a WTB and received a scam right away. New poster and an obvious lack of understanding of what I was looking for resulted in no response from me.

I have been scammed in the past but not from here. Was nothing expensive.

Many of my favorite cards have been purchased from the boards and a significant part of my collection is through people I have gotten to know through the forums.

Be careful, get references and avoid PP F&F unless you really trust the reputation and even then it may not be worth it not to go G&S. I have purchased from several of you on here without incident.

The boards are a great place to add to your collection - but do your homework.

He was suspended (it looks the same as banned) because he was messing up the forum with his redundant threads. It was fine the first week, with several, but not the second. I never like it when someone gets scammed but they still can't take over the forum about it. If he pm's me and says he will stop, he will be let back. It's sort of like when Adrian (probably before your time) was limited to 15 posts a day. He would use them up in like 15 minutes.

I really feel left out. I never had a scammer contact me for anything. Do I have body odor that they leave me alone? Maybe I will post a want to buy 1952 Mantle and see if a scammer contacts me.

Default Get Smart

There was a scene in Get Smart.
Smart knocked the gun out of the bad guys hand. The bad guy was like a mad scientist - Dr. Frankenstein type. The gun fell into the pit of boiling oil. The bad guy's assistant (like an Igor type) said I'll get, and jumped in the boiling oil.
The Mad scientist said "good help is so hard to find"
I always loved that show.
