Default Greg Maddux Opinion

https://postimg.cc/BXjXSb9p

Any opinions on this Maddux? I know his signature is always pretty sloppy. Thanks in advance!

For as sloppy as his signature usually is, that one looks very slowly drawn.

Others may like it but I’m not a fan of this . Looks slow and the Greg looks off to me . Most times I go by first impression of the signature and gut reaction when I see it and this doesn’t look right to me IMO based upon that .

I almost always agree with Kevin-ALMOST. I think the autograph is fine.

Really appreciate the responses guys, thanks!

I know that I'm out of my element when it comes to autographs, so I normally stay away from them, but this one caught my eye. I don't have any plans to sell it or submit it for authentication, so I'll enjoy it for what it is - a possibly authentic signed rookie card of one of the greatest pitchers ever!

I got Maddux in person outside of stadiums at spring training a number of times. Even though I like it in someways it doesn't match up to any of mine

I like it. That looks pretty spot on to what you would get from Maddux TTM in the early 2000's.

Did Maddux sign TTM his entire career?

I'd be shocked if he signed at all with the exception of maybe his first year or two. He may have signed sporadically, similar to Trout, but really can't imagine him being a consistent TTM signer.

Regarding the authenticity of the example the op is asking about, I wouldn't touch it. He has one of the easier signatures for forgers so I would shoot for IP or at least something authenticated through JSA or PSA/DNA.

Default Ttm

My brother got Maddux twice TTM in 1988. He sold me his collection a couple years ago. I know one is on a Fleer card with a dried out blue sharpie and I'll have to check the other one. They are vintage signatures, IMO.

Maddux was very sporadic in his TTM signing but he did sign quite a bit from 2001-2002. Would occasionally sign up until about 2007 but there was way more requests he didn't honor during this period than he signed. I got Maddux personally sometime in the early 2000's. Around 2001 or 2002.

If you look at his pack certified autographs from the early 2000's you see this style of autograph on the cards.

Default 2 Maddux's (or would plural be Madi?)

So, I was a bit wrong. My brother sent to him twice, apparently, as Maddux used two different markers with an unfortunate dried out blue one on this '89 Donruss.
