Default 1953 Topps -- Card Gallery

Near the end of the 1952 Topps thread, there were suggestions to do the same with the 1953 Topps set, so here we go. Same idea as in that thread, post a card a day from the 1953 Topps set in numerical order.

Here's Jackie Robinson to start it off.

I'd better post mine. I won't have many others to contribute to this thread.

If Bob had started with anything other than a 7, I think we would have needed to end the thread.

Amazing Card Bob.

Here's mine on the opposite end. My dad was born in '46 and bought this in '53 when he was seven. I won't be upgrading this one.

Scott, how much of the set do you have autographed? Very cool to see.

My Luke Easter.

I have a smattering of 53T's, including #2 Luke Easter.

I would have had more, there was a really nice lot of mid-grade 52's and 53's in the REA Fall Auction, but it got away from me.

My Luke Easter.
Thank you Jay! I have 263 currently. The Easter I picked up from a board member here shortly after I joined the site; it might have been the first deal I made here.

Scott, I missed seeing that in your signature before when I asked the question. That's an amazing way to collect the set. I look forward to seeing them throughout this thread, and I hope you are eventually able to obtain the last 11 you need.

I can play along with this set for a while...maybe even motivate me to do better... I don't have Jackie yet so can start with ol' Luke. Most of my 53s range from P to VGEX with a couple better but other than my 54s and up, this set can live in the P range assuming that's what my future Mantle & Paige will be...I've never really liked this set, but its growing on me...

John, don't worry, you'll get used to it. We all did in the 1952 Topps thread. Also, he might have an occasional 6 to look forward to.

Neat thread! I have a whole set of '53's from my boyhood collection, all in sleeves & Card Savers, ready to send for grading, but the huge cost & wait time has dissuaded me from sending them in.

I can post some here as they are all original purchase & have never been upgraded since the day I bought them.

Fred, very cool to see a 69 year old card still with the original owner. It looks like you took better care of your cards than most kids did back then. If your whole set is like the Dobson you posted, that is amazing and I can't wait to see them.

Amazing these have been kept in such great condition. I'll be posting more of my dad's cards in this thread. You'll see his cards were actively used.
