Default Show your 19th Century Photos and Memorabilia

My main fascination in baseball is with 1800s items because baseball was so very different than from 1900 on. Please post any pics of your 19th century photos & memorabilia. THANKS so I can look like this on every post> Here is one of mine. An 1870s 7 x 9" photo of 2 teams from Hood River Oregon outdoors.

Default Sept 5th, 1889 Trophyball

I recieved an email yesterday from the Cleveland Police Museum and they are going to try and research this game for me. They changed Curators and are behind so it will be awhile for them to catch up and get to the research on this game. Thanks to a member on NET54 I was able to contact them. I had given up hope on finding anything about this game. Will keep you posted if I get any information. D.

Default A couple of baseball games

The first BB game has a copyright of 1885 - appears to be an advertising premium in the form of a game.

"Base Ball Game" - H.H. Durgin, Pittsfield

National League Ball Game - Yankee Novelty Co., Chicago - 1890

Thanx for sharing your items guys - I enjoyed them very much.

Undated, but hopefully close enough to qualify, is this old team image taken by a photographer in Tarentum, Pennsylvania. I've always thought that guy on the right end in the chair looked like trouble... Any further information would be much appreciated!

Default 19th century

Beautiful stuff guys.

Here are a few of my 19th century football photographs
First is a CDV of 2 1891 Trinity College players

Next is an early 1890s Univ of Penn player

A very large 1898 Milton Academy football team photo

1892 Lake Forest team photo - not a very tough looking squad, eh?

1893 Doane College team photo - Everytime I look at this photo, I wonder what the guy in the back row is wearing. Looks very clownish - perhaps a referee?

Univ of North Carolina player photo -

Two "Yale" Murphy cabinet cards. One is from Pach Bros when he was actually still in college and the other is a Newsboy card.

If that is Mt. Joy, PA, the town was named after a branch of my family )

Hi Scott..it is Mt. Joy PA. Interesting about you family connection. Like to hear more. I reached out to the Mt. Joy and Lewisburg Historic Societys to see if by chance, there was anything on record about the teams or a big game played on the date shown on the ball - but so far have come up empty.
