Default Altered T206 Mathewson on ebay?

BODA thinks so. According to it, a PSA 4 with Bray pedigree was cleaned and a crease pressed out, resulting in a 5. Judge for yourself as always.

Did the auction end early?

It was original posted as a 10 days auction, but just ended after 3 days:

Quite odd to see this "sold" for $1,522. I would have thought an auction ended early would not have a "winning bid" posted on eBay.

There is an option to end early to sell to the high bidder I thought. Unusual though.

Would a Matty PSA 5 not typically sell for much more than $1,522?

An untainted Matty (Portrait) PSA 5 is a $4-7K card.

(If someone wants to sell or trade me one for less than that please PM me).

Apparently word got out about the alleged tampering.
