Default reprint detecting tips

Posted By: nbrazil

I recently purchased a raw 1948 leaf babe ruth via ebay. I have a strong feeling that this card may be a reprint, but cannot be sure.

Does anyone know the tell tale signs of a reprinted 48 leaf ruth card?

thanks in advance.

Lets have a looksee.

The '48 Leaf Ruth was highly copied. There were several on ebay 4-5 yrs back. The one I 'won' had a gray back that was printed in gray... Where this gray had worn, along the edge, tiny areas of white stock revealed.

I recommend buying beater commons of old sets to compare with the key cards you intend on owning.
