I knew Dan for a long time. Super nice guy. He was a huge Cubs fan so we had always had lots to talk about.

Sorry to hear this. My condolences to his family.

RIP

What a shame. Dan helped me find quite a few key pieces and was always so friendly and helpful. I know the years go by quickly, but does anyone know how he died, or how old Dan was when he passed?

Seems like he was still awfully young. Deepest condolences to Dan and his friends/family.

Very sad news. I met Dan decades ago, and he was always so kind and a pleasure to spend time with. Tremendous loss for the hobby. Loss of a great guy.

Sad news. I met him in Chicago at Mastro's Auction house in 2005. Super nice fellow.

So sorry to hear of Dan's passing. A true hobby icon going way back, always friendly and ready to share his monumental store of knowledge about the stuff.

I first met Dan probably back in 1985 or '86 when I was working in the front office for the Cubs and Dan bought all of the old, wooden seats that were removed from the third base side during a winter renovation. There were allot of seats and they were heavy as many were in twos and threes and I helped him and the small army he brought with him load them into U-Hauls.

I always wanted to reach out to him to see if he had any of those seats left but never took the time to do so. I would see him at shows and we would exchange pleasantries but our conversations never turned to the seats. He was a good man with a love for the hobby and it is sad to see him go.

Does anyone have a picture of Dan? Rest in peace my friend. I know I've heard his name over the years but never met him.

I had a few dealings with Dan years ago when I used to collect non-sports. He was a super nice guy and always fair with me. Very sad to hear.

Here is a pic from 2005. That's Lee Behrends (Sterling Auctions), Jay Behrends and Dan on the Right.
