Picked this up on the Bay today. Anyone who collects E94s knows that of all the colors, the hardest to find in nice shape are the olives (why, I have no clue).

Matt, that's a beauty. I'd much rather have that A with the tiny chipped corner over some of the 1-3's I've seen.

Nice card Jeff. I got my butt handed to me on each of the e103's I was going after.

I was actually surprised at how low the prices were -- the pops are so low on these cards compared to, say, the T206s. I guess it's just not a very popular set or since the pops are so low it just can't be collected by enough people to make it popular.

congrats to brian for getting his grail!

some are turned off by the red back and its scarcity...i thought the 2 often seen hof'ers bender/bres went rather cheap.

Normally, I don't post in these pick-up threads, but I figure landing one of my all-time favourites warrants it. I won this card back in February, but just had it sent up to Canada last week (thanks Ted!).

Back in 2003 I was living on 'the Island', and read an article about pro baseball returning to Victoria. At the time I didn't collect "vintage", but they told a story about, and showed a card of, Ten Million. I was intrigued and thought it'd be cool to get the card. In hindsight, it would have been much cheaper to track this card down back then, but as a student, it just wasn't feasible. Five years later, with that professional baseball league long gone from Victoria, you might say that there is now one less 'Ten Million' card in circulation.

Regards,

Richard.

I missed the e103 sale completely.

Most of my eBay searches these days start with the word "old" or "bobby"

edit: Matt - thats one of my all-time favorite hobby cards. great pickup.

Amazing.. I watched the Tenney & Wood card shoot up from $300 each to close at over $1800 each all within 6 seconds left.

Thought I could use an extra Tenny I don't buy too much off of Ebay anymore but I'll always make an exception for the e103 Tenny.

I sort of figured I was in for a pretty expensive night when some of the SGC 40 commons started getting above the $500 range. Some of the cards stayed reasonable though. I saw the Wood go for $1800 right before the Tenny ended and was kind of shocked at that price because I didn't know others held Robert Wood in that high of regard. It is a tough one though. I was really hoping the Tenny would stay under $2k and I didn't miss that by very much.

I picked up a new variation on the M101-4 Baird card. He is an M101-4 exclusive card, ie not made in the earlier M101-5 set. I have had the card with a C.F. designation for a while now but I saw that he was shown with a 3rd Base designation in the Slocum Book, and have had my eye out for the other version for a while now.

The C.F. version has a blank back
The 3rd B. version has the VERY tough Famous & Barr back, those who think I am kidding, I'm not... M101-5's with Famous and Barr back are pretty easy but the M101-4's with the Famous & Barr back are really tough

Not really sure which position on front is tougher, but I had a harder time finding the 3rd B. version.

Alright Ted, just to be fair...Here's the other 'goodies' that were in my mailbox on Friday. Note that these are pickups that span the past 4-5 months, but that were just 'forwarded' to Canada last week. At least three should look familiar to board members.

In no particular order...

Regards,

Richard.

Nice cards Rhett. You seem to have a knack for pulling out the odd cards. Just how many of these are coming from local antique shops?

Paul:

Very nice Speaker & Crawford p/c's. I really wanted the Speaker from Hunt Auctions and should have gone harder after it but was intimidated by the fact that bids went so far above "estimeates" that I stopped bidding. Now I know for the future to ignore their estimates and bid according to my own price point.

Thanks all. Dan, those same images are also in the PC796 Sepia set. Phil, definetly ignore those estimates. They are probably even less accurate than the prices in SMR & the Catalog.
