Leland's last auction had two Rice Stix cards that were "cut by hand at the factory". Just wondering if all Rice Stix were hand cut? http://www.lelands.com/bid.aspx?lot=1470&auction=412

My Rice Stix Dizzy is also not handcut. I think this is just wishful thinking by Lelands, which unfortunately some bidders accepted as true.

Common sense tells me that unless every single card was handcut (and they weren't), then there's no way to tell if a card was "handcut at the factory" in 1935, or handcut last week by your two year old son. Perhaps someone else has more information than me on this, but I just can't see how you can tell when or where a card was cut with a pair of scissors.

There are quite a few issues that are hand-cut.

How does one determine if the cut was done by scissors, razor blade or laser?

How does one know when the card was cut?

How does a grading service know what is an acceptable level of size on these type of cards.

What would be more valuable a crudely hand-cut card that has lot of extra border (that can be recut to NM/MT status) or a neatly cut card with sharp corners but very little border?
